#TGIFC194 By The Bay

By | January 11, 2019

It’s TGIF Friday!!! Wahoo!!! Today, we have a new sketch challenge that I’m sure you’re going to love. It’s got lots of possibilities for stamping and layering. To see all the TGIFC designers’ amazing projects using this sketch, click over to the TGIF Challenges Blog.

For my card, I decided to use the new By The Bay stamp set. You can earn this stamp set for free during Sale-A-Bration with a purchase of $50! It’s perfect for watercoloring!!!

I stamped the images with Stazon ink on Shimmery White Cardstock, and then used an Aqua Painter to watercolor with the ink colors listed below. I love how the final result looks like a pen and ink painting. It brings out the inner artist in me!

I had so much fun last Sunday sitting in my craft room, just paining away. I find it very relaxing.

I selected a lot of neutral colors for this project, since there’s a lot of stone, sand, and natural features. I realized at one point that the overall tone was a little too cool, so I warmed it up with some Blushing Bride ink. That worked perfectly, since I knew I wanted to feature the sea shell in the small circle, which has that same color.

One tip I remember from art class (a long time ago) is to remember to add reflections of colors in different areas of the painting. Therefore, I picked up some of the blues from the ocean and sky and added them to the house and walkways. I also added some green moss to the stones.

Supplies used on my card:

Hope you’ll be able to join us this week at TGIF Challenges. I’d love to see what you can design using this sketch.

Have a wonderful and creative day!

Tami, you have knocked this one out of the park. LOVE it! It is worthy of framing in my book. My set arrives today and can’t wait to try my hand at CASEing your card. TYFS.
