#TGIFC172 Sketch Challenge

By | August 10, 2018

TGIF!!!  It’s time for a new challenge!  This week, the TGIF Challenges blog has a great sketch challenge.  It’s nice and simple and easy to adapt to just about any stamp set.

I really love sketch challenges!!!  A lot of the design work is already done; and they encourage me to do something different.  Just pick a stamp set and start creating!

Be sure to check out the TGIF Challenges website for inspiration from all the designers’ projects this week.  I just love being part of this amazingly talented group!!!

For my project, I used a new stamp set … Pop of Petals.  This is a really fun stamp set with lots of different flower variations and leaves, as well as a beautiful fern stamp.  What’s even better is that it has a coordinating punch to make cutting out the large flowers a snap.  Plus, you can purchase the stamp set and punch in a bundle for 10% off!!!  Wahoo!

I stamped multiple flowers on Shimmery White Cardstock with StazOn ink and watercolored them with Fresh Fig, Highlander Heather, and Calypso Coral ink.  In addition, I stamped some of the watercolor looking flowers with Highlander Heather ink, and then I used my Aqua Painter to blend the ink and add some highlights with Fresh Fig ink.

For the smaller flowers, I cut them out by hand.

Did you notice the background paper on the top?  That’s one of the Petal Promenade Designer Series Papers.  On the back of all those gorgeous floral designs, there’s marble paper!!!  It’s really beautiful!  I just wanted a touch of interest, so this paper worked perfectly.

Before adhering the marble paper to the cardbase, I stamped it with some fern and leaf stamps using Gray Granite ink.

To incorporate the circle from the sketch, I added a delicate Vellum die cut underneath my flowers.

Then, on the bottom half of my card, I used the Layered Leaves Dynamic Textured Impression Embossing Folder.  For these types of embossing folders, be sure to spritz your paper with a little water before running them through the Big Shot.  It helps soften the fibers and get a really deep, gorgeous impression.  Yummy!

Finally, I added a pretty label from the Stitched Labels Framelits Dies and a sentiment from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.  My youngest sister is having a wedding anniversary soon and I think she’s going to love this!

For the bow, I unraveled some Nature’s Twine and used just a few strands.

Supplies used on my card:

I hope you can join us this week at TGIF Challenges!  I would love to see what you come up with using this week’s sketch!  Create your project, upload it to your blog or social media, and then use the link tool at the bottom of the post on the TGIF Challenges website to link your project.  You could be this week’s winner!

Have a wonderful and creative day!!!

This is the absolute prettiest card I’ve seen with these stamps! I have somewhat struggled with the positioning of the 4 point flowers, but you have nailed it!! I love your layout, colors, and position of embellishments. Thanks for sharing your artistry!

This is amazing! It does not even look like a SU card – I mean that in the best way – original, unique.
