Today, I have a really special card to share using the new Suit & Tie Dies! I absolutely love this new set, because it’s so versatile. I first saw it during the November Convention, and I immediately knew what I wanted to do.
(Please note that I am not affiliated with Chapman University. I obtained permission to show the logo on this card since it’s only for inspiration.)
White Coat Ceremony:
My son Samuel is going to grad school at Chapman University in Southern California to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy and he recently received his “white coat.” Typically, there’s a big Fall ceremony for the students; however, due to the pandemic, it was delayed until this week when they are having a virtual one.
My husband and I are so incredibly proud of our son and really wanted to make him feel special. So for Christmas, I made this card to give him with some extra cash. That always means a lot to a student!!! 🙂
Logo & Badge:
My son suspected that something was up, because I had asked him to take a flat photo of the logo and his name badge. I cleaned up the photo in Photoshop, cropped the sections I wanted and printed them on cardstock. I realized that the pocket is exactly 1″ wide, so I shrunk the photo down to match proportionately. I left plenty of space around the logo, so I could cut out the coat section. Then, I printed the name badge in a separate area so I could cut it out and round the edges with a sanding block. Afterwards, I sponged some Gray Granite ink around the edges to make it stand out against the white background and adhered it with a Mini Dimensional.
Coat & Tie Dies:
The Coat & Tie Dies include all sorts of great elements, including the pocket, buttons, lapel, shirt collar, and even the plaquette. I wanted the shirt underneath to look like a polo shirt. Physical Therapists are a little more casual than typical medical doctors, who wear ties, as they are often working with patients on stretching and exercise machines. Plus, my son is definitely NOT a shirt and tie kind of a guy! Ha!
On the inside of the card, I used a great stamp set from the Annual Catalog called A Grand Kid. It has really nice congratulatory sentiments, and I would recommend it to anyone, not just grandparents.
We saw my son briefly on Christmas Eve to give him the card and he absolutely LOVED it!!! He said he’s keeping it a special memory box, so that just made my heart sing.
Best wishes for a great day!!!
