Welcome to the February Stamping Sunday Blog Hop. This month, our theme is “Whimsical Wings and Soaring Hearts.” I decided to pick the Bee My Valentine Bundle for my project, with its darling little bees and heart embellishments, as well as a heart embossed background. I think that pretty much checked all the boxes. 🙂
I love watercoloring, so I used it to create the background and flowers. I also used a watercolor stamping technique for the bees.
To create my bees, I inked up the body with Daffodil Delight ink, stamped off once on scratch paper, and then used a Sponge Dauber to add ink directly onto the stamp around the edges. This provided a little shading. Then, I spritzed the stamp before stamping on Basic White Cardstock. Depending on how much water I added, the ink blended and the stamped image looked watercolored. After the ink dried, I stamped the stripes with Memento ink. (Flip the stamp around to create an opposing bee.) This bundle is so cute, because it includes little antenna and all sorts of cute faces. It also has a coordinating punch for the bodies, antenna, and wings.
I stamped the wings twice, once on Basic White and a second time on Vellum, so it looks like they are moving.
For the background, I watercolored the paper first with Pool Party ink, leaving a little white space in the center. Then, I embossed the whole layer with the Adoring Hearts 3D Embossing Folder. Afterwards, I realized that the hearts weren’t visible enough, so I took a Craft White ink pad and scraped it over the raised areas. That definitely did the trick! Then, I added some splatter with a Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Write Marker.
The Bee My Valentine Stamp Set includes cute flowers and stems, but I was lazy and didn’t want to fussy cut them, so I came up with another plan. First, I watercolored two layers of Basic White Cardstock, one with Granny Apple Green ink and the other with a combination of Petal Pink and Sweet Sorbet ink. Then, I simply used the Wanted To Say Dies to cut out multiple shapes. Quick and easy!
One of my favorite things about the Bee My Valentine Stamp Set is the sentiments! They are so cheesy and cute that I had to include one on the front and one on the inside. I also added lots of Adhesive-Backed Hearts and Flowers!
I had several leftover elements, which were perfect for decorating the inside.
