Stamping Sunday — Easter Parade

By | March 14, 2021

Hello and welcome to the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop for March! I’m so glad you stopped by. Our theme this month is “Easter Parade,” which is perfect because Easter is right around the corner on April 4th!

What’s more Easter-like that sweet little lambs, bunnies, and chicks? I decided to use the Springtime Joy Cling Stamp Set for my projects. It’s absolutely adorable!

For this blog hop, the designers have two choices. We can design 1) three versions of a card for beginner, casual, and avid stampers, or 2) a 3D project and a card. I chose the first option, but I tweaked the rules a little and used a recent description of stepped-up versions of cards that I saw from Stampin’ Up! that was a little more to my liking. I confess that making beginner cards is a challenge for me, so I cheated and started with casual.

Casual Stamper:

For my first card, I only used stamps, paper, ink … and a little embossing and embellishing. (But, I didn’t use any die-cutting!) To me, that’s “casual.” I stamped the main images with Memento ink and colored them with Stampin’ Blends Markers.

I LOVE the sweet little flower crowns on these stamped images! Pay particular attention to them as I step-up each version. On this first card, I simply stamped, colored, and cut out the images by hand to layer. I also used the brush end of my Stampin’ Blends Markers to create the soft, colored background behind the lamb.

For all three of my cards today, I used soft pastel colors for card bases and a sheet of vellum embossed in white using the Wild Roses background stamp. The lacy, elegant look of this embossed sheet made me think of special Easter Sunday dresses. That brings back memories! My mom use to sew dresses for my two sisters and I every Easter that were exactly alike, except they were different pastel colors. Soooo cute!

This card has a Purple Posy card base and a layer of 2019-2021 In Color 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper pack, as well as ribbon from the Playing With Patterns Ribbon Combo Pack. It also has a few Elegant Faceted Gems.

Avid Stamper:

For my next card, I stepped-up the difficulty by adding die-cuts and a few more layers. Remember I said to pay attention to the flower crowns? On this card, I stamped the image twice so I could cut out one of the flower crowns, pop it up, and slip a bow under it.

Layering Ovals are an obvious choice for Easter, but I also added a few die-cuts using the Pierced Blooms Dies, specifically the label and small flower.

I also added some texture to the oval background die-cut with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. (Funny story, the die-cut slipped when I was embossing it, and it came out diagonal. But, I kind of liked it, so I left it that way.)

Finally, I used a layer of Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper in the background. I LOVE this paper!!! It has some of the more gorgeous pastel prints that worked perfectly with these cards.

Artfully Avid Stamper:

For my last card, I added even more layers. This little bunny wanted a BIG flower crown like the lamb! So I cut out one flower crown from the lamb image and one flower crown from the bunny image and layered them on top of each other. I think he’s happy now.

Just for fun, I changed the orientation of this card and added more Pierced Blooms flower die-cuts. I also used the Layering Ovals Dies to create a fun frame.

Finally, I used some more Playing With Patterns Ribbon to enhance the sentiment.

Aw these are the cuttest cards I’ve seen with this stamp set. And thanks for notice that the lamb and the bunny have different flower crowns! I’m pretty sure that once I have this set, my bunnies will all want to have a big crown 🙂
