Stamping Sunday Blog Hop – Simply Sweet

Welcome to the March Stamping Sunday Blog Hop. This month, our theme is “Simply Sweet.” Projects can feature sweet treats such as ice creams, doughnuts, cakes and more or opt to keep things “sweet and simple.”

Typically, our group hops on the third Sunday of each month, but we decided to push it back a week this month since many of us were traveling to OnStage last weekend.

For my card, I used the Birthday Celebrations Bundle and coordinating Wildflower Birthday Designer Series Paper. The paper includes two 12″ x 12″ sheets with punch out die-cuts with beautiful imagery. I purchased the bundle ages ago and have been meaning to use it. I even took a Crafty Carrot class featuring this bundle with loads of great inspiration! So, I’ve been dying to give it a go. I honestly don’t know where the time has gone!

In fact, I loved one of the Crafty Carrot projects so much, that I used it as inspiration for this card. Mikaela Titheridge made a card where she mixed the Birthday Celebrations Bundle with the Country Lace Designer Series Paper (of which I adore the colors) and dipped the tassel in gold embossing.

For my card, I used a couple sheets of the Country Lace DSP in the background. Since that paper features Misty Moonlight and the Birthday Celebrations cake features Blueberry Bushel, I combined both blues on my tassel banner. That way, I it looked purposeful.

The Birthday Celebrations punch out die-cuts include gold foil, so I embossed my sentiment in gold and included some Gold Foil leaf die-cuts.

One thing to note about the punch outs. They have rather large borders, which I’m not particularly fond of. Therefore, I fussy cut all my punch outs so they looked more “normal” to my eye.
