Welcome to the June Stamping Sunday Blog Hop. This month, our theme is “Paper Players.” This includes playing with paper in fun ways, such as using designer series papers or fun folds. The theme couldn’t be more relevant, since many of Stampin’ Up!’s beautiful designer series papers are on sale this month for 15% off!!! (Click HERE for more details.)
On the first cay of the sale, I placed an order to stock up on DSP and one of my favorites is the Masterfully Made DSP shown on this card. I abosolutely LOVE the bright colors and ripped edges printed right on the paper. The background of this card includes two different sheets that I ripped and layered.
I also used the coordinating Gorgeously Made Dies to cut out the leaves and notebook border on the bottom of the card. Since the paper is very busy, most of my die-cuts are from plain cardstock; however, I couldn’t resist adding a little watercoloring on one. It includes both Azure Afternoon and Lost Lagoon ink … a gorgeous combination! Tip: Watercolor the Basic White Cardstock BEFORE cutting out the die to avoid compromising the embossing.
One of my favorite things to do with paper is make 3D paper flowers, and the Paper Florist Dies are just the bomb! They make it so easy!!! I’ve been slowly making my way through the different die shapes to see what kind of flowers they make, and I particularly love the way these turned out. I think the key is to use a Bone Folder to really shape all the petals before adhering them together.
I cut the petals from Bubble Bath and Berry Burst Cardstock. (I thought I had reached for Fresh Freesia Cardstock, which coordinates with the DSP, but I later realized my mistake. But, I think it looks OK, so I left it. Has that happened to you? I’m so used to Fresh Freesia being the lightest lavender shade and I often get the two colors mixed up.)
The center of each flower includes a Soft Shimmer Specialty Paper die cut and a Basic White Cardstock center that I pre-watercolored with Crushed Curry ink.
My sentiment is from the Go To Greetings. It’s the only stamping on this card, so I think I kept with the “paper” theme fairly well! The sentiment IS Fresh Freesia Cardstock (haha), and it’s when I grabbed it that I realized my mistake with the flower.
I can’t wait to see what all the other designers come up with. Be sure to click on the links below and follow along the rest of the blog hop. (If you’re reading this via email, you will need to click on my header to move over to my blog in order to see the links.)

Beautiful card! Do you have a video showing how you made these beautiful flowers?
Hi Vicki, thanks so much! No I don’t have a video, but I’m thinking of using those dies for my next online class in September. I’ll make the announcement on my blog after I hold my Earthen Textures class on August 19th.
Awesome! I will keep an eye out for that post for your online class. 😊💗
Hi Vicki, If you’re interested, I have a new Gorgeously Made Online class, where I’ll be demonstrating how to make the paper flowers. You can see all the details at https://swimminginstamps.com/gorgeously-made-online-class/
Yes I would be interested in the option 2.
Great!!! So glad that works out. I’ll send an invoice via Pay Pal.
