Welcome to the November Stamping Sunday Blog Hop. This month, our theme is “Layer Up” meaning layer up for a cold winter’s night or adding layers to our projects. When I think of a cold winter’s night, I think of sitting by a cozy fire, snuggled under a blanket, and surrounded by beautiful holiday decorations. I also think of my mom’s house in the mountains, with the snow outside and rustic wood walls.
One of my favorite decorations is a Christmas wreath, so I decided to create that memory on a card.
I used a bunch of different products to create this wreath, including images from Season of Green & Gold Designer Series Paper and Graceful Greenery Vellum Specialty Designer Series Paper. The Golden Greenery Dies coordinate with several of the images printed on the papers, so it’s easy to align and cut them. (No stamping or coloring needed!) I also used the Golden Greenery Dies to cut pines from both Old Olive and Mossy Meadow Cardstock and then shaded them with a Blending Brush and Mossy Meadow ink. The die-cuts were a little long, so I simply cut them smaller to fit the curvature of the wreath.
To really make my wreath pop, I added an Encircled In Nature die-cut on top from Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper that I lightly watercolored with Cherry Cobbler ink. I used those same dies to cut the twigs from Textured Metallic gold paper.
To assemble my wreath, I used the circle dies from Encircled in Nature as guides.
Every wreath needs a big, beautiful bow, so I added a quadruple bow tied with Cherry Cobbler & Gold 1/4″ Satin Ribbon, as well as a triple bow tied with Gold Twisted Thread (new Online Exclusive.)
The sentiments, on the card front and inside, are from the Greetings of the Season Stamps and coordinating Greetings of the Season Dies. To create the smaller tag, I used a partial die-cutting technique to shorten the long, narrow tag by running it through the die-cutting machine twice.
