Welcome to the January Stamping Sunday Blog Hop. This month, our theme is the Heart & Home. What a perfect theme considering Valentine’s Day is only a few weeks away!

One of my favorite things to do on a Saturday morning is wake up and watch a new monthly video from the three gals from Stampin’ Through The Catalog. I learn so much from their tutorials, including fun techniques, interesting layouts, and lots of tips and tricks. This month, they CASEd (Copy And Share Everything) a super clever card made by Teri West. I particularly loved Melody Hyde’s CASE, where she created a background with two-tone paper. In fact, I was so inspired that I just HAD to try it. I changed up the shape (to hearts), the products (to the the Hearts Of Elegance Bundle), and color combo to create this Valentine’s Day card.

I wanted to make a masculine card, so I used Country Woods Designer Series Paper (DSP) in the background and for the sentiment. I only have a few colors of two-tone paper, so I was limited to Pool Party, but that color pairs beautifully with the rustic colors of this DSP.

To create the background, I die-cut the stitched heart from the Hearts Of Elegance Dies from 1-1/2″ squares of Pool Party Two-Tone Cardstock. Some are from the “full color” side and some are from the 70% side. Then, I switched up the inside hearts and adhered them inside. I love this subtle background!

For a little more color variation, I also pre-watercolored some paper with both Pretty Peacock and Pool Party ink and used it to die-cut the leaf die from the Country Flowers Dies. Then, I inked up the leaf stamp from the Hearts Of Elegance set with two colors (Pool Party and Pecan Pie), gave it a little spritz, and stamped it on Basic White Cardstock.

The two sentiments are embossed in white on Country Woods DSP. For the card front, I very carefully fussy cut the entire thing. Lastly, I added some Textured Dots and Linen Thread.

Here’s a look at the inside where I also used some Hearts Of Elegance stamps to stamp with Early Espresso ink on Country Woods DSP.
