Welcome to the December Stamping Sunday Blog Hop. This month, our theme is the Magic of Christmas or Joyful Traditions. One of my favorite traditions is family gatherings. This year, we are invited to my sister-in-law’s house for Christmas Eve. She always hosts amazing parties! She asked me to bring my carrot cake, so I decided to create a fun cake topper!
The base of my cake topper includes two large Nested Essentials die-cuts, so I could sandwich the wooden skewers in-between. I stacked two Dimensionals between the matching die-cuts so there was room to hot glue the skewers in place. Therefore, it should be quite sturdy when I stick it in the cake.
To decorate the front, I used a combination of Peaceful Season stamps and die-cuts as well as some Golden Greenery foliage. I have to admit that I didn’t have a lot of time to spend making this, so it was actually quite simple. The pines are die-cuts from Graceful Greenery Vellum. They make any project look AMAZING!
I cut the background foliage out of Shaded Spruce Cardstock and then added some simple ink blending for depth.
I also used a variety of designer series papers, including Season of Elegance and Regal Distressed Specialty Paper for the layers. The focal sentiment is in the hostess’s colors of Real Red and Shaded Spruce.
Then, of course I had to add some bling. I used several of my seasonal favorites — Real Red & White Adhesive-Backed Peppermints and Cherry Cobbler Adhesive-Backed Berries. The final touch was some coordinating ribbon. I think this will make a very festive cake!
