Welcome to the June Stamping Sunday Blog Hop. This month, our theme is CASE the Catalog. (CASE means to Copy And Share Everything.) The Stampin’ Up! catalogs are great inspiration to jump start your creativity! The current annual has a bunch of great templates on page 22, as well as color theory information on pages 132 and 133. There’s also great examples on just about every page of the catalog.
I wanted to use the Light The Sky Stamp Set and coordinating dies, so I browsed the current catalog looking for examples and found one on page 63 below. I love the card on the lower left with the central strip of designer series paper and layered circles.
I have both a family member and co-worker with birthdays right around July 4th, so what better than a card of fireworks? The Light The Sky Stamp set and coordinating dies are carryover products that are available to purchase online in “Online Exclusives. ” They are fun and celebratory and perfect for birthdays and big events.
When I think of fireworks, I think of brilliant colors, so my mind immediately went to the Full Of Life Designers Series Paper. That paper pack is full of bright, happy colors including the watercolor designs shown on both my cards.
This paper makes it easy to add watercoloring to your projects without any of the work!
On the second version, I focused more on the red, white, and blue colors. The coordinating dies cut the negative firework images in the background, plus the outline of the stamped images. I simply embossed the fireworks in white on the Full Of Life DSP, finding fun places to show lots of color variation.
For the small circles, the images are again from the Light The Sky Stamps, but the small circle die is from the Round We Go Dies. I also used a couple of those dies to cut out the Real Red circle under the sentiment.
