Our theme for Stampin’ Fancy Friday this month is “use your stash.” I love this idea! It’s so easy to focus on new products and forget to use the great ones we already have, or didn’t get a chance to use enough. This was the perfect opportunity to give some of my favorites a little more love.
To see all the designers’ projects, keep an eye on the Stampin’ Fancy Friday Facebook and Instagram pages throughout the month. We’d also love to see your creative projects using your stash! Be sure to tag them with @stampinfancyfriday so we can find and admire them!
Back in September, Stampin’ Up! had the Perfect Partners promotion for one month only offering the Apple Blossom Dies that coordinated with the Apple Harvest stamp set. I snatched up the dies because the blossoms are so beautiful! I also adore the delicate scallop in the die set. This was the perfect opportunity to re-visit those dies!
I decided to cover the apple images with the blossom die-cuts and create a holiday card. To start out, I stamped the background image with Stazon ink on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and watercolored the leaves and branches with Garden Green, Mint Macaron, and Soft Suede ink. I just left the apples unpainted as I planned to cover them up.
Next, I watercolored three different panels of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper for the blossoms, leaves, and flower centers. This was totally random and my only goal was to get lots of color variation so I could pick prime spots to cut out the dies. For the blossoms, I used Cherry Cobbler, Real Red and Poppy Parade ink. For the leaves, I used Garden Green and Mint Macaron ink. And for the flower centers, I used So Saffron ink. I like to spritz the paper back and front first (to avoid curling) and then used the large Water Painter to add ink. I also prefer to let the panels air dry.
In the background, I used some Boughs of Holly and Gingham Cottage Designer Series Paper. To make the diagonal stripes, I simply cut the paper diagonally.
To bring in holiday elements, I used the Christmas To Remember stamp set and Seasonal Labels Dies. While both are current Stampin’ Up! products, I haven’t used them since last year! They were both favorites of mine, so it felt good to use them again.
Finally, I dug out one of my favorite retired embellishments from last year, the Wonderful Gems.
What have you got in your stash that you’d love to use again?
Have a wonderful and creative day!
