Stampin’ Fancy Friday – Sketch Challenge with Rolling Waves

By | April 8, 2026

Hello Friends and welcome to a new Stampin’ Fancy Friday. Our April challenge is to use the sketch below. I love a good sketch, because it’s a great starting point, plus I can choose any products and colors I want!!! For this card, I decided to create a Bon Voyage card using the Rolling Waves Bundle – an Online Exclusive. I’m obsessed with this bundle and the more I use it, the more I love it because it’s so fun and different with it’s bird’s eye view.

To see all the designers’ projects using this month’s theme, keep an eye on the Stampin’ Fancy Friday Facebook and Instagram pages. We’d also love to see any of your projects using our theme! Be sure to tag them with @stampinfancyfriday so we can find and admire them!

This is only the second project I’ve made using this bundle, and I loved the first one so much that I decided to use the same coloring technique, just slightly different colors. The technique works so well with the theme that I couldn’t resist.

As for the sketch, I replaced the diamonds with umbrellas and used the waves and wet sand as dividers for the background. While beachgoers would normally not set up their umbrellas quite so close to the water, I’m using a little artistic license here. Think of it as a super hot day when it feels good to place a chair and your feet in the water to keep cool in the gentle waves.

To create the paper for this project, I used Blending Brushes to add ink to Basic White Cardstock and then flicked water droplets over the paper with a Water Painter. I used the following color combinations:

  • Ocean (bottom layer) – Pretty Peacock and Coastal Cabana ink
  • Ocean (bottom wave layer) – Coastal Cabana and Pool Party ink
  • Ocean (top layer) – Pool Party ink fading to white
  • Waves – Basic White Cardstock
  • Wet sand – Pool Party and Crumb Cake ink and stamped with the small water image in Pool Party ink
  • Sand – Crumb Cake and Petal Pink ink and stamped with the large texture image in Crumb Cake ink (stamped off once.)
  • Shells – Petal Pink and Pretty In Pink ink
  • Palms – Old Olive and Granny Apple Green ink (I ended up not using these on the card itself, but they’re good props!)

I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment in white on Country Woods Designer Series Paper and then die-cut the umbrellas from Night of Navy and Basic White Cardstock. Embellishments include some Linen Thread and Antique Pearls.

I hope this card inspires you to try this bundle and check out the amazing Online Exclusives! Have a wonderful and creative day!
