Stampin’ Fancy Friday — Sketch Challenge

By | February 7, 2023

For this month’s Stampin’ Fancy Friday, all the designers are creating projects using the sketch pictured below. It has lots of layers and geometric shapes. When I first saw it, I immediately thought of the Desert Details Bundle from the JA Mini Catalog.

To see all the designers’ projects, keep an eye on the Stampin’ Fancy Friday Facebook and Instagram pages throughout the month. We’d also love to see your projects! Be sure to “tag” them with @stampinfancyfriday so we can find and admire them!

The Desert Details Bundle has beautiful geometric stamps and dies, as well as intricate florals! I particularly love the long banner die!!!

I used the gorgeous Delicate Desert Designer Series Paper (DSP) to create the layers. Then, for some added bling and warmth, I dragged the edges of the Cajun Craze layer along a Versamark Pad and added gold embossing.

I also added a little texture to the background with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder.

I stamped the flower images on Shimmery White Cardstock using a Stamparatus, Blending Brushes, and multiple colors of ink (Petal Pink, Calypso Coral and Cajun Craze.) The Stamparatus allowed me to stamp multiple times in the same spot so I could add each ink color one at a time with Blending Brushes. This technique works particularly well with DistINKtive stamps.

While the ink was still slightly wet, I poured gold embossing powder over the flowers. It stuck to random areas, which is exactly what I wanted. I used a dry paint brush to clean up any excess and then heat set the powder. The result is a beautiful random pattern of gold embossed highlights.

Behind the flowers, I watercolored the Shimmery White die-cut with Calypso Coral ink and then added splatters with a Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Marker.

I also added a few strands of Simply Elegant Trim that I had unraveled and some die-cuts from Vellum Cardstock.

I cut the border die-cuts from Petal Pink Cardstock, as well as the greeting. The final touch was to add a few Gold Faceted Adhesive-Backed Sequins.

The Desert Details Bundle and coordinating products are really beautiful. I hope this card inspires you to play with them.

Have a wonderful day!

This is the most stunning samples I’ve seen using this suite. I bought the bundle and DSP and specialty paper, but didn’t get the gold faceted sequins because I don’t like the big holes in them. Absolutely love how you hid the holes on the big ones! Making me rethink that choice. Love Love Love this!
