Stampin’ Fancy Friday – Shades of Purple

By | February 17, 2026

Our January Stampin’ Fancy Friday theme is “Shades of Purple.” How fun! I love purple, but it’s not typically the focus of my attention, so I have to say that I really enjoyed this challenge. It also helps that an idea immediately popped into my head! (I LOVE that when that happens!)

To see all the designers’ projects using this month’s theme, keep an eye on the Stampin’ Fancy Friday Facebook and Instagram pages. We’d also love to see any of your projects using our theme! Be sure to tag them with @stampinfancyfriday so we can find and admire them!

My card features the Happy Place Stamp Set and some retired products that were just too perfect for this challenge. When I looked through my stash of designer series papers, I remembered the beautiful Celebratory Sips Designer Series Papers (DSP). It has a sheet of gorgeous watercolored rectangle shapes, many of which include shades of purple! So that got me thinking whether the rectangles were large enough to die-cut the palm trees from the Beach Day Dies? And yes, they were!!! Wahoo my idea was going to work!

So I proceeded to die-cut five palm tree tops (with two die-cuts each) from various purple, Strawberry Slush, and Timid Tiger rectangles of the DSP. I also die-cut the trunks from the same paper. The trunks were a little too long, but that’s ok because most of them are hidden behind the sentiment.

After die-cutting the tree top pieces, I added a little ink blending in the centers with Blackberry Bliss and Berry Burst ink. I also added a bit of shading to the trunks with the same colors.

For the big Happy Place stamp, I did a few things to get the multi-colored image. First, I used Sponge Daubers to ink up the stamp with Blackberry Bliss, Berry Burst, Strawberry Slush, and Timid Tiger ink. After stamping the image on Basic White Cardstock, I colored the image with Fresh Freesia and Gorgeous Grape watercolor pencils. That really helped to fill in the image and give the letters shading. I could also darken a few sections that didn’t stamp too well.

Behind the palm trees, I blended a layer of Basic White Cardstock with Fresh Freesia ink and layered that over a card base of the same color.

Here’s the inside of the card. I gave it to a dear friend that I’ve known for over forty years. She loved it!

Have a wonderful and creative day!
