Stampin’ Fancy Friday – Pretty In Plaid

By | December 9, 2024

This month, our Stampin’ Fancy Friday theme is Pretty In Plaid. I LOVE plaid prints on holiday cards. They add a warm and cozy vibe, as well as a rustic look. Stampin’ Up! has some great plaid papers or you could even make your own with Stampin’ Blends and Stampin’ Write markers! There’s also the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder!

To see all the designers’ projects, keep an eye on the Stampin’ Fancy Friday Facebook and Instagram pages throughout the month. We’d also love to see any of your projects using our theme! Be sure to tag them with @stampinfancyfriday so we can find and admire them!

I used two plaids on this slimline card: A print from Season of Green & Gold Designer Series Paper and a dry embossed white background using the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder. The patterns help emphasize the adorable reindeer.

All the reindeer are fussy cut from Reindeer Days Designer Series Paper. There is a sheet in that pack that includes loads of different reindeer, some going right and some going left. I thought is would be so fun to pick different ones and create Santa’s sleigh. While I didn’t have enough room to fit eight (or nine counting Rudolph), I did manage five on the front and three more on the inside!

I found the sleigh in the A Little Bit Festive punch out ephemera sheet! (It also included the Christmas tree and one of the presents that I used on the inside.) Then, I created the sentiment banner with a Peaceful Season die-cut from Garden Green Two-Tone Cardstock. I needed to lengthen it a bit to fit the sentiment from the Reindeer Fun Stamp Set. My trick is to stamp and emboss the sentiment first, and then use the die to only cut one side of the sentiment. (Place the top plate so it stops short of the end of the die.) Then, realign the die with the other side and repeat the process.

The rest of the card is fairly simple. I die-cut the lights from Basic White Cardstock and then added some Iridescent Foil Gems for sparkle. I also had some fun with Real Red & White Peppermint and baker’s twine embellishments.

Here’s a peek at the inside.

This card is super big, measuring 11′ wide; it’s one would hand deliver. To accommodate the size, I created a custom envelope with a sheet of Season of Green & Gold DSP.

Have a wonderful and creative day!
