Stampin’ Fancy Friday — Bold & Bright

By | January 9, 2025

This month, our Stampin’ Fancy Friday theme is Bold & Bright. Yay, I LOVE bright colors, so I was excited! It makes me think of Spring and warmer weather. For my project, I decided to use the Happy Hibiscus Bundle. It’s a new Online Exclusive with photopolymer stamps and coordinating hybrid embossing folder. (The hybrid includes both dies and a 3D embossing folder, so if you choose, one of the dies fits inside the embossing folder to both cut and emboss at the same time.)

To see all the designers’ projects using this theme, keep an eye on the Stampin’ Fancy Friday Facebook and Instagram pages throughout the month. We’d also love to see any of your projects using our theme! Be sure to tag them with @stampinfancyfriday so we can find and admire them!

I based my color combination on the new Friends Of The Ocean Designer Series Paper from the JA Mini Catalog. These papers are great for way more than ocean-themed projects! The back of each sheet includes beautiful, bright geometric designs including Melon Mambo and Calypso Coral. After cutting the layers, I added a little bit of ink blending around the edges with Blending Brushes.

For the flowers, I stamped them with Jet Black Stazon ink on Basic White Cardstock and then watercolored them with two combinations: 1) Melon Mambo and Pretty In Pink and 2) Calypso Coral and Petal Pink. I also used Daffodil Delight ink for the centers.

Then, to create the leaves, I randomly watercolored a sheet of Basic White Cardstock with Lemon Lime Twist, Granny Apple Green, and Summer Splash ink and used it to die-cut multiple leaves.

I took inspiration for the card layout from one of the sketches on page 12 of the JA Mini Catalog. This is a great resource that Stampin’ Up! now includes in all its recent catalogs.

For my bold sentiment, I embossed the greeting from the Simply Said Mix & Match Stamp Set on Basic Black Cardstock and then cut it out with the large tag from the Winterly Tree Top Dies.

On the inside, I used another sentiment from that same stamp set and cut it out with the label from the Happy Hibiscus Dies.

I hope my card has inspired you to try out this beautiful bundle and break out those Water Painters! (If you’re new to watercoloring, think about using Watercolor Pencils. Simply color with the pencils and then lightly brush with a Water Painter filled with clear water.)

Have a wonderful and creative day!
