Half Full Birthday

Today is my Mom’s birthday, and I wanted to make something special and meaningful. As I was looking through my stash of stamps, I found the Half Full stamp set from the Annual Catalog. I was so excited, because it’s perfect!!! An idea immediately began to form in my head…

My mom and I love going wine tasting together. Last year, we had several mother/daughter vacations in Napa, the Stockton/Lodi area, and Orlando, Florida. Whether it’s the whole point of the trip or a little side adventure, we always have a good time enjoying a nice glass of wine. Pinot Grigio is her favorite! So when I saw this stamp set, it just called out to me.

I can’t claim credit for coming up with the idea of using a wood crate on this card. I’ve seen it used several times on some darling cards on Pinterest. The Wood Crate Framelits Dies are intended to create a 3-D crate, but you can also use them on cards too! After cutting out the die, I trimmed the sides down to 1/4″. That way, I could place dimensionals under the slats and mimic a 3-D look.

I did at least attempt to mix in some new products and colors for decorating the card.

I stamped all the images with Stazon ink on Shimmery White Cardstock, so I could watercolor them using the ink colors listed below. Afterwards, I cut out the bottles, glass and grapes by hand. I had to trim off a little from the bottom of the bottles that went inside the crate so they were positioned nicely.

New products used: I used the new Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper to decorate both the inside and outside of the card. It reminded me of an Italian tablecloth. I also used the new Lace Dynamic Textured Impression Embossing Folder for the background, which added a nice feminine touch. Finally, I used some of the new wooden Butterfly Elements on the front (leaves and flower), which you can earn for free during Sale-A-Bration with a purchase of $50.

I just adore this sentiment for the inside of the card, and the little row of glasses I used on the back. This is definitely one of my all-time favorite stamp sets.
