Color Fusers Blog Hop – December

Hello and welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for December. This month, we are working with a beautiful color combination of Pretty Peacock, Night of Navy, and Granny Apple Green. I love blues and greens, so this is right up my alley!

For my card, I combined the Wishes & Wonder Bundle with the In The Pines Bundle to create a soft winter scene. Everything is stamped and embossed on Shimmery White Cardstock so I could watercolor.

For the trees, I stamped the detailed trees with Stazon and then used Water Painters to watercolor with the challenge colors. In the background, I watercolored a wash with Night of Navy and then embossed the layer with the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder.

I love gold and glitter on Christmas cards, so I embossed both the stag and greeting in gold. Then, for subtle shading, I highlighted the shadows on the stag with a Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. I also used Wink of Stella on the entire layer of snow.

I love the pretty circle tag die-cut in the North Pole Wonder Dies. In order to make the greeting fit on the tag, I stamped and embossed one word at a time.

I realized that the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper (a carryover product from last year) had perfect colors for this challenge, so I added a few layers to the background. I ran both pieces through my die-cutting and embossing machine using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder to give them a textile look. Then, I used the edge of my paper snips to rough up the edges.
