Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for November 2023. This month, we have a color combination that’s perfect for the holidays, including Garden Green, Real Red, and Cherry Cobbler. Love it!
I decided to use the Above It All Bundle. This bundle speaks to my heart as a skier and mountain lover. Last year, I bought a season pass for the first time in my life! I enjoyed an entire Winter of skiing with my daughter, sister, and mom. It was heaven, and boy what a Winter it was … record snow and amazing conditions. One of our favorite things to do was ride the gondola all the way to the top of the mountain again and again and again.
I absolutely love all the cute elements in this stamp set! There are gondola pieces, a top connector, rollers, wires, and of course the stylish trees. There’s also great sentiments and coordinating dies to cut everything out. This card really focuses on the stamps; I could use the dies to create an entirely different look.
I stamped the gondola with Real Red ink and then used what I think is a two-step stamping piece to stamp the doors with Cherry Cobbler. That stamp may work for the windows too? Anyway, I love how the coordinating die cuts out the windows to see the background beyond the gondola. Super cute!
I stamped the trees by inking up the stamp with Garden Green ink, stamping off once or twice on scratch paper, then inking up a portion of the stamp with more Garden Green. Then, I lightly spritzed the stamp and stamped on Basic White Cardstock. Everytime I do this, it comes out different.
For the solid trees, I cut them out of Garden Green Cardstock and then used a Water Painter to watercolor them with Garden Green ink for shading. Once they dried, I used a Sponge Dauber to add Craft White ink for the appearance of snow on the branches. Lastly, I splattered the trees and background with a Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.
To give the card a little depth and make it appear as though the gondola is in front of the trees (like it’s running through a cleared path, I placed a strip of Foam Adhesive Sheets under the wires and gondola.
In the background, I layered some die-cut mountains in front of a sky that I watercolored with Pool Party ink.
Final touches include a silver embossed sentiment, some Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels, and Silver 1/8″ Trim bow.
On the inside, I used a little Joy of Christmas Designer Series Paper and a couple leftover trees.
