Color Fusers Blog Hop — May 2021

Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for May! This month, we have a beautiful color combination that includes Poppy Parade, Flirty Flamingo, Pool Party and Bumblebee. These colors immediately made me think of lovely, bright Spring flowers!!!

I decided to create a Mother’s Day card for my Mother-In-Law using the In Bloom Bundle. This is one of those bundles that has grown on me the more I’ve used it. I particularly love the Pierced Blooms Dies, which include a huge variety of floral and leaf shapes that layer beautifully!

I cut some of the flowers from Shimmery White Cardstock and watercolored them with Poppy Parade, Flirty Flamingo, and Bumblebee ink. Then, I used a Sponge Dauber to add a little Versamark ink and Heat & Stick Powder to edges of some of the petals, heat set it, and applied Gilded Leafing Embellishment. I love the combination of the soft watercoloring with the gold highlights!

I decided to add a few more gold elements, including an embossed sentiment and some 3/8″ Fine Art Ribbon. I realized that when I frayed the ribbon, it made a pretty zig zag pattern, so I decided to add some to the right side of my card. (I’m always looking for different ways to use products.)

I created the pretty double scalloped border with the new Basic Border Dies. These dies are a new product in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog, which goes live tomorrow! The dies include some really unique shapes that I’m super excited to try out.

For the background, I used the Greenery Embossing Folder. It’s a smaller sized embossing folder, so to cover the entire layer, I ran it through the Cut & Emboss Machine once and then repositioned the folder, aligning the folder with the initial pattern, and ran it through one more time.

To decorate the inside of the card, I used some leftover flowers and a greeting from the Dressed To Impress stamp set.
