Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for March. This month, our color combination focuses on three of the 2024-2026 In Colors. Summer Splash is a particular favorite of mine, plus I love the happy, bright colors together.
My card focuses on a combination of new and old products. In the background, I used a gorgeous new Online Exclusive called Elements of Text. The soft script and splatter images are super versatile! I can create my own custom backgrounds, decorate die-cuts, and use them with stamping techniques such as emboss resist. Plus, I love the vintage style!
For this particular card, first I painted a subtle watercolor wash with Summer Splash ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then, I inked up the background stamp with the same color and stamped off once on scratch paper to lighten the color. Same with the splatter stamps.
The butterfly images and sentiment are from the Sketched Butterflies Bundle from the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog. I heat embossed them in white on Basic White Cardstock and then watercolored them with the challenge colors. I also added layers of detailed butterfly die-cuts underneath using select sheets from the Unbounded Beauty Designer Series Paper. That paper pack includes beautiful “watercolor” prints instantly ready for die-cutting.
I also stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on a strip of Basic Black Cardstock and then punched the end with a Banners Pick-A-Punch. Then, to finish the card, I added a few Shimmer Gems and some frayed Summer Splash Bordered Ribbon. (Simply cut off one side of the bordered ribbon and then pull out the strands.)
