Welcome to the January 2025 Color Fusers Blog Hop! To start out the New Year, we have a cool color combination of Smoky Slate, Balmy Blue, and Blueberry Bushel. (Isn’t it funny that I just did a very similar color challenge for TGIF Challenges?) Since I did a feminine card for that one, I decided to make a masculine card for this color challenge.
My card features the In The Grove Bundle. It’s one of my favorites, and I thought the cool colors would pair well with this bundle. I also found a sheet of Country Woods Designer Series Paper colored Smoky Slate that was perfect for the background.
I particularly love the aspen tree die-cut from the In The Grove Dies. It’s so unique and pretty, that I’m compelled to use it on every card I make with this bundle. For this card, I used Memories & More Cards and Envelopes for the card base, because the larger size (6-1/4″ x 4-1/4″) gives me a little more room for decorating.
I used a few different techniques on the different layers. Most are stamped on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and watercolored with Water Painters. For the trees, I die-cut them from Blueberry Bushel Cardstock, and then added Tuxedo Black Memento ink with a Sponge Dauber for shading. For the meadow, I inked up half the stamp with Balmy Blue ink and and half with Smoky Slate ink. Then, I used a Sponge Dauber to soften the transition in color and gave the stamp a little spritz of water before stamping on Basic White Cardstock. The mixing of the inks appears to have changed the colors a bit, but I love the results.
The sentiment is from the Simply Said Mix & Match Stamp Set. It’s a great staple from the Annual Catalog. I heat embossed it in white on Smoky Slate Cardstock. Then, the last touch was some Smoky Slate pearls.
