Welcome to the March Color Fusers Blog Hop! This month, we are thinking of Spring and have a nice, Earthy color combination including Mint Macaron, Pear Pizzazz, Very Vanilla, and Soft Suede.
When I first saw these colors, I immediately thought of the gorgeous Grace’s Garden stamp set and coordinating Garden Gateway Dies. (Purchase in a bundle for 10% off!) The pale greens and soft neutrals seemed perfect to design my own secret garden.
This is the first time I’ve used this bundle and it was so fun! I particularly love the pretty arched gate and fun gate builder pieces.
I stamped the gate and fence with Soft Suede ink on Shimmery White Cardstock and watercolored them with an Aqua Painter. Since Soft Suede is water-soluble, I used a slightly dry brush to avoid blurring the stamped images too much. I also used a reverse coloring technique to make the gate and fence appear “white.” I only slightly shaded the gate and fence with watered down Soft Suede, and then I painted the background with Pear Pizzazz and Mint Macaron to make the gate and fence really stand out.
I love all the fun detailed stamps in this set, as well as all the coordinating dies to cut them out! (That makes it so much easier!!!) There’s even a teeny, tiny one for the bird! The additional branch and flower dies make it even better. They are so sweet!
I cut my gate in two so it would open, just for fun. To give my scene some perspective, I layered garden dies behind and adhered the gate and fence pieces with dimensionals.
For the garden pieces, I stamped with Pear Pizzazz and watercolored with both Pear Pizzazz and Mint Macaron. Again, I watercolored the background and leaves to create flowers that appear white.
After layering the Very Vanilla rose and flower dies, I painted them with a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to add some pretty sparkle.
Finally, I cut a background from Shimmery White Cardstock and watercolored it with Mint Macaron ink to create a misty background for my secret garden. I also added a simple sentiment stamped with Soft Suede and cut out with the smallest Stitched Nested Die.
I had a few leftovers , so I decided to add a little scene inside the card as well! That little kitty looks so cute!
