Color Fusers Blog Hop for February 2020

Hello and welcome to the February Color Fusers Blog Hop! This month, all the designers are creating projects with the following colors: Blushing Bride, Very Vanilla, Sahara Sand, and Early Espresso. I’ve got to tell you, I really love being part of this group, because it makes me think WAY outside of my comfort zone. This month was a real challenge, but I’m so HAPPY with the results.

I thought about this color combo for a while … mostly because of the brown tones. But then, inspiration hit! Why not make a masculine Valentine’s Day card? While the color combo includes Blushing Bride… it makes a great sunrise:)

This card is what I would call “vintage tropical!” I based the layout on a recent TGIF Challenges sketch that I really liked and created a background with a variety of neutral papers, including sheets from the Neutrals 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper Pack and Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper.

I cut out all the background papers with Stitched Rectangle Dies and embossed a couple of them with my current favorite Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder.

Next, I cut a large Stitched Shapes Circle out of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and used an Aqua Painter and Sahara Sand and Blushing Bride ink to create a watercolor background.

I also cut the Word Wishes sentiment out of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and watercolored it with Sahara Sand and Early Espresso ink to create an ombre design.

While most of this card is very non-traditional, I did add one heart “sun” in the background. I used the Stitched Be Mine Dies to cut the heart out of Blushing Bride Cardstock.
