Color Fusers Blog Hop — August 2025

Welcome to the August 2025 Color Fusers Blog Hop! This month, our color combo includes Darling Duckling, Basic Gray, and Basic White. Wow, this is the month for super challenging color challenges for me. Two in a row, where I looked at the combo and initially felt no interest whatsoever. But, I have to say that it’s really good for me to participate in these challenges, because it forces me to try something different. Otherwise, everything I’d create would be in my favorite colors of blues and greens and I’d be stuck in a rut. And, bottom line is that I’m super pleased with the results!

I fell in love with the Sunflower Embossing Folder when I saw it and was inspired by several cards created by Patti Brunter, a very dear friend, at Stampin Expressions. I particularly loved one where she watercolored the dry embossed images. I knew Darling Duckling would work well for the flowers, but wasn’t sure about Basic Gray. I ended up using a combination of Basic Gray with a little Darling Duckling ink mixed in for the centers, and it worked!

I started by dry embossing a layer of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. Then, I watercolored some of the raised areas.

This did take some concentration. I started by watercoloring the petals with a light mixture. Then, I used a darker concentration of ink for the details and shading. Overall, I limited the amount of water I used so I wouldn’t flatten the dry embossing.

For the centers, I used a little more water and a blobbing motion with my paint brush.

After the watercoloring dried, I flicked splatter all over the layer with a Darling Duckling Stampin’ Blend Marker.

The sentiment is from the Beautiful Butterflies Stamp Set. I embossed it in white and then layered it over some Faux Linen Ribbon. To give the ribbon some support, I cut a Foam Adhesive Sheet to fit underneath.

As a final touch, I added some sweet Tiny Bee Trinkets. Fun!!!
