Hello, and welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for August 2022! Do you ever need a little crafting inspiration? Color challenges are a great springboard! I know I tend to gravitate to the same colors, and these challenges really push me to break out of the mold. I NEVER in a million years would have picked this color combo on my own, but I ended up loving it in the end!
Whether you just came from Sue Vine’s blog or are just starting here, be sure to continue on through the rest of the blog hop by clicking the navigation buttons at the end of this post.
When I first looked at the colors, literally nothing came to mind. But, I had recently purchased the Trees For Sale stamp set and really wanted to use them. You can find this stamp set in the JD Mini on page 39 and it coordinates with the Tree Lot Dies, which is on page 12 of the Sale-A-Bration Catalog. You can earn the dies for FREE with a qualifying purchase of $100 USD from now until August 31, 2022 while supplies last! Both stamps and dies are SO freaking cute! They are intended for the holidays, but I switch things up and made an everyday card.
I thought it would be fun to use all the colors to stamp the trees and go for a very whimsical look and then keep the camper very neutral. So, I started by stamping the background on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. I inked up the solid tree stamp with one color, added a second color with a Sponge Dauber, and then lightly spritzed the stamp before stamping. After the paper dried, I stamped the detail trees on top. I love how this gave all the trees a two-tone look.
For the trees in the foreground, I only stamped the solid tree stamp with two colors, similar to the ones above. Then, I cut out the detail dies from watercolor paper and added a light wash.
To fill in the background, I used my Water Painters to add some watered-down Pacific Point ink to the sky and Mint Macaron ink to the ground. Lastly, I added black splatter with a Stampin’ Write Marker.
I love all the fun accessories in the Tree Lot Dies! I used them to add layers of Silver Foil Specialty Paper, Basic White Cardstock, and watercolor paper. Then, I stamped the sentiment from the Campology stamp set with Memento ink and cut it out with the sign die. But, to add a little texture, I replaced the post with a die intended for tree trunks. I also used that die to add a little step for my trailer! Then, the final touch was some Rustic Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots on the wheel and door.
There are so many cute things to do with these coordinating products; I can’t wait to use them for Christmas!
