Color Fusers Blog Hop — April 2020

By | April 6, 2020

Happy Monday and welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for April 2020! This month, we have a beautiful color combination of blues and greens, my personal fav!

I designed a card using several new products from the Ornate Garden Suite! This suite is part of the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalog coming out in June, but Stampin’ Up! has made these products available to order right now, so you can get a jump on your Spring crafting!!! Wahoo!

In particular, I used the new Ornate Thanks Bundle, including the Ornate Thanks Photopolymer Stamps and coordinating Ornate Borders Dies. The stamp fonts and intricate dies are gorgeous!!!

In addition, I used the coordinating Ornate Layers Dies. These dies are perfect for creating exquisite layers and sure to be well used favorites.

Finally, I used the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder. I love the tiny, sweet flowers in this design!

For my card, I focused on showing off those beautiful dies by layering with Shimmery White, Soft Sea Foam, and Balmy Blue Cardstock.

Tip: These intricate dies cut beautifully, but here are some tips for 100% success. Use a Standard Platform and Thin Die Adapter (versus a Magnetic Platform) and run your sandwich back and forth through a die cutting machine 3 – 4 times. You can also carefully remove the die and cardstock, flip it over and run them through a die cutting machine again upside down. That really does the trick! Then, use a Take Your Pick Die Brush Tip and Foam Mat to remove all the tiny pieces. (A hand vacuum is nice to have handy too! Haha!!!)

To achieve the two-tone look, I cut two top layers, one from Soft Sea Foam and one from Balmy Blue Cardstock. Then, I dry embossed them with the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder and cut both diagonally so I could piece them together.

For the diagonal layer on top, I cut multiple dies from Shimmery White Cardstock. That included the long intricate die, several single flowers, and leaves that fell out from one of the borders. I also used scissors to separate some of the flowers and leaves from one of the borders. Then, I watercolored the pieces with Soft Sea Foam, Granny Apple Green, Balmy Blue, and Blueberry Bushel ink. After layering the dies, I added a few Gingham Gala Adhesive-Backed Sequins for decoration.

Finally, I embossed the sentiment in white, trimmed it close, and notched the ends.
