With all the cards I make, you’d think I’d have a huge inventory for every occasion. But believe it or not, I’m sadly lacking when it comes to masculine birthdays. Recently, I needed two and was inspired by a beautiful card designed by Jay Soriano from Mitosu Crafts using the Mountain Air stamp set. I decided to use his general layout, but change the colors and add a few touches of my own.
The Mountain Air stamp set is reversible, with solid images on one side of the stamp and detailed images on the other. This gives you a huge variety of options.
To create the main panel, I used Whisper White Cardstock that I stamped multiple times with the solid mountain stamp, sometimes stamping off once and sometimes stamping full strength. (Stamping off means I stamped on scratch paper first, and then stamped the image without re-inking to lighten the color.) I used the following inks: Smoky Slate, Misty Moonlight, Pretty Peacock and Night of Navy. Next, I stamped the detail trees with Night of Navy twice, both full strength.
To create the sky, I used a Sponge Dauber to add Seaside Spray ink to the top. I also added a very small amount of Petal Pink to the sky to warm it up just a tad.
Then, I used a Sponge Dauber to add Pretty Peacock and Balmy Blue ink to the lake.
To finish off the card, I stamped the clouds with Seaside Spray and the moon and birds with Night of Navy. Then, I wrapped the card with some 3/8″ Denim Ribbon and added the whole panel to a background embossed with the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder.
The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings embossed in white on Basic Gray Cardstock and cut out with the Classic Label Punch.
Hope you liked my version of the card. Best wishes for a safe and happy July and enjoy earning those coupons!!!
