I recently purchased all the new colors of Stampin’ Blends Markers, and I’ve been wanting to play with them ever since!!! This weekend, I finally had a little time, so I designed a card focused on coloring. I sat in my craft room, called my mom on speaker phone, and sat there coloring while we caught up. It was so fun!!!
I used the Beautiful Day stamp set and a masking technique to stamp all the large flowers with Memento ink on Whisper White Cardstock. To mask the flowers, I stamped the center one first. Then, I stamped it again on a scratch piece of paper and cut it out to create the mask. Next, I placed the mask over the original stamped image and stamped the other flowers. This technique allows the flowers to appear layered when they are actually all on one single piece of cardstock.
Tip: When coloring with Stampin’ Blends, use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to prevent smearing. Remember Tuxedo Black Memento Ink works with alcohol based products (like Stampin’ Blends) and Stazon Ink works with water based products (like watercoloring.)
See below for the colors of Stampin’ Blends Markers I used on the flowers. I prefer to color in small sections (one or two petals at a time) starting in the center with the darkest color, and then adding the lighter colors over and blending outward. I used one combo pack for simple variations (background flowers) and combined colors (center flower) for more complex variations. For example, the center flower uses both Flirty Flamingo and Petal Pink light and dark Stampin’ Blends Markers, as well as the two Daffodil Delight markers in the center.
To finish the card, I cut two Springtime Impressions butterflies from Vellum Paper and layered them under the smallest scallop circle from the Layering Circles Framelits Dies cut from Petal Pink Cardstock.
To create the sentiment, I stamped a portion of one of the Beautiful Day stamps. I masked off the part I didn’t want with some old washi tape before stamping.
Don’t you just love that little Blossom Embellishment? I think it’s so sweet!
