Hello and welcome to my blog. I’m Tami Hewlett from California, USA, and today I’m sharing projects I designed for the May Artisan Design Team Showcase featuring the Wisteria Wishes Bundle. Be sure to check out the Stampin’ Up! Facebook page to see all the Artisans’ projects featuring this gorgeous bundle.
The Wisteria Wishes Bundle includes the Wisteria Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set and Wisteria Dies (purchase in a bundle to save 10%) and can be found on page 92 of the new 2022-2023 Annual Catalog. Several of the dies are designed to cut out the stamps, plus there’s some really pretty additional branch and flower dies that are perfect for embellishing projects.
To A Friend Who’s All Kinds of Wonderful Card:
I created two watercolored cards using a wet stamping technique. The beautiful stamps in this set can be used to create all kinds of different flowers (not just Wisteria.) In fact, some of the Artisans were brainstorming in our chat group, and we found all sorts of photos of flowers that would work with this set, including Apricot Beauty Foxgloves (which were the inspiration for the card below), Lupines, and Stock.
To create my card, I used Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. This paper is a must for this technique. I spritzed the paper (front and back) with clear water, and then stamped the two-step flower with Blushing Bride and Sweet Sorbet ink. I stamped off both colors to lighten the image, especially the Sweet Sorbet, I stamped off two and even three times for that color. Depending on how wet the paper is, the ink will bleed creating a beautiful soft illusion of flowers in the distance.
I used the same technique to stamp the stems with Soft Succulent ink and then added the sky with Tahitian Tide ink and a Water Painter. Once the paper was dry, I added Sweet Sorbet splatter with a Stampin’ Write Marker.
For the flowers in the foreground, I used a similar technique, but a little less water. I also added some watercolored die-cuts using both Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen ink.
Another fun element on this card is the Fabulous Frames Dies! I really love them and attempted to make my card look like a framed painting. I cut the frame pieces out of Thick Basic White Cardstock and used a Sponge Dauber to add Sahara Sand ink to make the frame look antiqued. Then, I used Stitched Rectangle Dies to create a mat from Distressed Gold 12″ x 12″ Specialty Paper.
Final touches were a sentiment embossed in gold on both Basic White and Tahitian Tide Cardstock and some Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
Happiness Grows Within Card:
For my second card, I focused more on the beautiful die-cuts to create Wisteria flowers. I again cut the dies from Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and then used a wet stamping technique in the background.
This time, I used Fresh Freesia, Orchid Oasis, and Gorgeous Grape ink to watercolor the flowers and Parakeet Party, Soft Succulent, and Evening Evergreen ink to watercolor the branches and leaves. Afterwards, I used na Orchid Oasis Stampin’ Write Markers to splatter the flowers and background.
This card also includes a Fabulous Frame die-cut from Distressed Gold Specialty Paper. I love how it gives the card an old Italian look. It reminds me of some of the nearby wineries, where lots of Wisteria grows.
In the background, I used Sahara Sand Cardstock and the Timber 3D Embossing Folder. I distressed the edges with my Paper Snips and then used a Sponge Dauber to add a little Versamark ink to the raised areas so I could add gold embossing. Tip: Use a paper piercer to run along the de-bossed areas and remove some of the embossing powder before heat setting.
That cute little sentiment die-cut is also included in the Fabulous Frames Dies.
I hope these cards have inspired you. I really enjoyed working with this bundle.
