Hello and welcome! Today I’m sharing projects I created for the August Artisan Design Team Showcase. This month, the entire showcase features products from the new July-December Mini Catalog, so be sure to check out the Stampin’ Up! Facebook page for lots of great inspiration!
I was thrilled when I found out I was assigned the Sweet Little Stocktings Bundle. These stamps and coordinating dies are absolutely adorable and include so many fun pieces. For those of you who know me, you may be surprised at my reaction, since I usually shy away from animals because I’m super allergic. But last year, my daughter adopted a rescue kitten and I’m totally in LOVE with him. She sends me funny videos and Snapchats almost every day of his funny antics and sassy attitude. He cracks me up and makes my heart melt. Most importantly, he makes her soooo happy.
My favorite thing about this bundle is that it gives you the option to choose different animals for customized projects, or none at all. You could also use the animals to peek out of either the stockings or the gift boxes, or mix things up and add them to another stamp set!
Festive Slimline Card:
My first project is a festive slimline card. It features lots of those cute stamped images, colored with Stampin’ Blends, as well as the coordinating Sweet Stockings 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) and Jolly Felt!
To add texture and dimension, I used the Stocking Dies to cut embellishing pieces from the Jolly Felt. Then, I added some hand stitching to the stocking pieces with a single strand of White Baker’s Twine. The impressions from the die made it easy to determine where to place the stitching. It has been a while since I’ve sewn a blanket stitch, so I did a quick search to find instructions on YouTube and gave myself a refresher. Then, it all came back and I really love the results!
I stamped all the images with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Basic White Cardstock and colored them with Cherry Cobbler, Evening Evergreen, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Smoky Slate, Gray Granite, and Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends Markers. I used my daughter’s cat as a guide for the markings. He’s actually got a very dark gray (almost black) and white face, but light gray worked better for the card.
For the corners, I adhered strips of DSP to some Kraft Paper (with a border cut with the Penned Flowers Dies.) I also used one of the Stocking Dies that has a scalloped border to enhance the sentiment strip.
Kraft Gift Box and Tag:
The Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper has so many adorable images, that I couldn’t resist cutting out one of the kitties and using it on a tag for my next project, which is one of the new Kraft Gift Boxes.
The Kraft Gift Boxes assemble in a snap and measure 6-5/8″ x 4-1/2″ x 3/4″. And while I didn’t choose to do so on this project, they are also stampable!
To create my tag, I used Layering Circles die-cuts from Basic White Cardstock colored with a Blending Brush and Pool Party ink. Then, I stamped the presents with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored them with Stampin’ Blends Markers.
I embossed the sentiment in white on Pool Party Cardstock and cut it out with both a Stocking Die (for the banner) and a Layering Circle Die (for the curve on top.)
Lastly, I added a belly band using the Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper and decorated it with two bows, one using Pool Party 3/8″ Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and the other with White 1/4″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon. I also added a few Matte Decorative Dots designed to coordinate with this bundle.
I hope these projects have inspired you to use the Sweet Little Stockings Bundle. Be sure to check out the rest of the Artisan Design Team Showcase for more great ideas!!!
