Hello! I’m Tami Hewlett from California, USA and today, I’m sharing projects I designed for the Stampin’ Up! Facebook Page. The members of the Artisan Design Team occasionally get this opportunity, and I have to say it’s a real honor!!! So, I try my best to come up with something unique and inspirational.

Since the holidays are right around the corner, I decided to design some Christmas cards and a tag featuring the Classic Cloche Bundle and Knit Together Background Stamp Set. You might initially overlook both these items in the July-December Mini Catalog, but they provide an opportunity for some fun watercoloring and background techniques that I think you’ll enjoy.
Here’s a photo of all the supplies I used on my projects:

Most Wonderful Time of the Year Card:
The Classic Cloche Bundle is designed to work with the Cloche Shaker Domes. I love the beautiful 3D effect the dome adds to my card! Just looking at this makes me think of unpacking Christmas globes and decorating the house for the holidays. I traditionally start the day after Thanksgiving, which is today!!!

I used Shimmery White Cardstock for all my projects so I could watercolor. This paper is perfect, because it’s smooth and easy to stamp, and also withstands water for easy blending.
I stamped the detailed village image with Stazon ink, which I prefer for watercoloring because it doesn’t bleed. Then, I stamped the tree/window “fill stamp” with Smoky Slate ink (stamped off once to lighten the color.) Afterwards, I used a Water Painter and Smoky Slate ink to add more shading to the trees.
For the pine trees, I watercolored a large panel of Shimmery White Cardstock with Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent ink and then selected areas with lots of variation in color to die-cut the trees. Next, I added some Balmy Blue ink to the sky and snow.
In the background, I watercolored another panel of Shimmery White with both Misty Moonlight and Balmy Blue ink and stamped the Knit Together Background Stamp over it with Misty Moonlight ink. I just love this cozy background stamp!

Magic of Christmas Card:
For my next card, I chose the sweet bird images from the Classic Cloche stamp set. I stamped them multiple times so I could cut layers and pop up the birds.

In the background, I used a partial stamping technique. I started by watercoloring the bottom section of a panel of Shimmery White Cardstock similar to the first card. Then, I masked off the top portion to keep it clean and white. Next, I inked up the background stamp with Misty Moonlight ink and laid my cardstock on top of the stamp. Then, I used my fingers to only press sections of the cardstock onto the stamp. I really love how this turned out!
For the birds, I started by watercoloring the backgroud with Balmy Blue ink mixed with lots of water to create watermarks. After it was thoroughly dry, I watercolored the birds with Crumb Cake and Merry Merlot ink and the pines with Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent ink.

Have you tried out the Silver Foil 12″ x 12″ Specialty Paper? It includes three shades of brushed silver foil and the darkest has a bluish tone. I used that to cut the detailed bars across the center of the card. Also, I just found out it will be carrying over to the next catalog!
Warmth – Joy – Happiness Tag:
My tag uses a lot of the same elements from the first card, but this time I layered them on Layering Circles die-cuts.

I love the addition of the bare tree. This sleepy little village looks ready for Christmas!

This is a really fun bundle with great stamps, sentiments and dies. Many of the elements, such as the tree die-cuts would work as great accent pieces with other products as well.
Enjoy you long weekend, and have a wonderful and creative day!
