I finished my Maui book this weekend!!! Woo, hoo! I decided to go for it and completed the last 10 pages of my vacation album. I’ll share five pages today and the rest next Monday, and then I’m moving on to the next project:)
The great thing about Project Life is it’s so easy and fast, that it’s actually possible to complete 10 pages in a reasonable amount of time. I wasn’t trying to speed through these pages. But, the format of Project Life layouts and the decorative, color coordinated cards really helped me to creative beautiful pages in no time at all.
My first page continues with our visit to Kula Lodge. My mom and I walked around the gallery and gardens taking tons of pictures. So, I picked a layout with room for lots of photos. To decorate my page, I used some burlap ribbon and a Triple Banner punch. (While I designed my pages digitally on My Digital Studio, you could create very similar layouts using real paper, pocket cards, and embellishments. Therefore, I’ll list all the physical products at the bottom of this post that you could use to create these pages.)
For my second page, I used photos from the numerous art galleries we visited. This was one of our favorite pass times during our trip. Because the photos were so colorful, I decided to make my own pocket cards using similar colors. Then, I decorated the cards with stamps from a digital download called Life Is All Around, which has all these great quotes about art.
Another fun thing we did in Maui was visit the Worcester Glassworks. We watched the owner working on a vase. It was so interesting to watch him add layer upon layer of color, as well as designs and texture. This vase had a pineapple design that was so cool looking.
I used both the Moments Like These and 2015 Hello December Card Collections on this page. Both collections are available from Stampin’ Up! at my online store. In addition, the 2015 Hello December Card Collection is now available digitally at Becky Higgins digitalprojectlife.com.
While the kids were zip lining one day, my mom and I visited a Lavendar Farm. (It was pretty cool that we both happened to be wearing purple that day! It made for great photos.) Anyway, I made my own cards for this page as well using the Purple Passion Kit digital download.
One of the very first pages I designed for my book was a zip lining page of the kids. After reviewing all my photos, as well as my mom’s and son’s, and then laying out the book, I decided to add another zip lining page. So, I removed the journaling from the initial page and added it to this one, thereby simplifying that original page and turning the whole thing into a double page spread. The cards on this page are from the Happy Times Card Collection.

Now that I’ve finished my book, I’ll be working on ordering prints this week, not only for this book, but my 2016 desktop calendars. I’ll fill you in on what I learn next Monday.
