My Digital Studio News

Stampin’ Up! announced this morning that it is discontinuing My Digital Studio (MDS). This just breaks my heart!  Last year it announced it would not be putting much effort into the program.  This was an extremely hard pill to swallow.  I adore MDS!!!  I’ve created beautiful albums, hundreds of layouts and enjoyed teaching this wonderful program.

If you have downloaded My Digital Studio, no worries.  You can still use your program. However, Stampin’ Up! will not continue to support the program after May 31st.   It will discontinue its mydigitalstudio.net website, including the tutorial videos, as well as its digital download library as of  May 31st. If there is something that you want, need… now is the time to grab it. The BIGGEST thing is to back up your current software and digital downloads. I recommend an external hard drive. You should copy your software and components folder onto an external hard drive so you will always have access to your digital files. After May 31st, you will no longer be able to access them. This also means print services through Stampin’ Up! will be gone.

There are many other print services available, which I will continue to explore and provide you.  One of my favorites is Costco.  Another is Shutterfly.

Sale-A-Bration Inspiration:

For my Sale-A-Bration inspiration this week, I’m using the Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Pack.  I’m just in love with this paper!!!  When I first saw the pack, I was immediately drawn to the butterfly sheet shown here.  To color it, I flipped the paper over and used Stampin’ Write Markers.  I know the butterflies look blended, but I did that with regular markers!  I used all the 2014-2016 In Colors, which you can purchase in one pack.  I love the effect of layering this vellum over Gold Foil paper.

I used one more Sale-A-Bration item on this card, the In Color Accessory Pack.  This pack includes both buttons and thick baker’s twine in all five 2014-2016 In Colors.  On this card, I unraveled five strands of the Tangelo Twist, so that it was a little thinner and looser looking.  Also, where the twine sticks out to form the antennae, I split the twine into two sections.

I cut two medium butterflies from the Butterflies Thinlits, one from Gold Foil and one from Hello Honey card stock.  Then, I sponged some Blackberry Bliss ink on the tips of the Hello Honey butterfly.

Because I stamped the bottom of the card with the chevron stamp from the Butterfly Basics, I rubbed the card with an embossing buddy prior to embossing the sentiment.  Initially, I was afraid that I had ruined the card because the dust from the embossing buddy really, really showed on the dark card stock.  However, I decided later that I liked the variegated look.
