Many Manly Occasions – May Paper Pumpkin:
This month’s Paper Pumpkin is really different and fun. It comes with Pumpkin Pie colored Corrugated Paper to layer behind laser cut card bases. I have to admit that Pumpkin Pie is not a color I use very frequently. I use it in the Fall and around Halloween, but that’s about it. However, it IS a really good color for masculine cards, and I love combining it with the Pool Party embellishments in this month’s kit.
For my first card today, I added some Kraft Corrugated Paper for even more texture. I also punched out some additional stars with a punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and created a label with the Washi Label Punch. All three of these products are retiring!!! It makes me sad to see them go, because they’re all great.
With the addition of the Kraft and Soft Suede colors, this still works as a good masculine card.
I used the Paper Pumpkin stamps to create a message for the inside of the card, and then added some “Congrats” using a stamp from the new Thoughtful Banners stamp set, which will be available on June 1st.
For my next card, I used some paper from the Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Pack. The triangles are small enough that they’re visible behind the laser cut card base.
I’m still on a quest to make lots of graduation cards, so I hope I’m not boring you to death. You could always use these ideas and simply change the sentiment. This time, I added a graduation hat stamp from a past Paper Pumpkin kit in black, and then I carried that color out to the rest of the card with some Metallics Sequins.
For the Banner, I used some new products coming out in the upcoming Annual Catalog. I used the new Duet Banner Punch, which includes both punch shapes. For the one behind, I actually layered two banners to make it appear wider that the top banner. The word “Graduation” came from the Crazy About You stamp set.
Then, for the inside of the card below, I used a stamp from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set (which is sold in a bundle with the Duet Banner Punch above for 15% off!) along with some stars from this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit.
