Weekly News / New Annual Catalog!!!

By | June 2, 2015

Today’s the day!  You can start ordering from the new 2015-2016 annual catalog!  Also because it’s the transition day between the old and new catalogs, you can also order from the 2014-2015 annual catalog and the occasions catalog!  Yep, for one day only, you can order from all three catalogs!

During the transition day of June 2, all carryover items from the 2014-2015 annual catalog and 2015 occasions catalog will keep their 2014-2015 prices, while brand-new items in the 2015-2016 annual catalog will follow the 2015-2016 printed price.  Beginning June 3, all 2015-2016 pricing will take effect.  Current hostess benefits will remain in effect on June 2.  Beginning June 3, all new hostess benefits will take effect.  On June 2, hostesses may choose hostess items from the 2014-2015 annual catalog, the 2015 occasions catalog, or the 2015-2016 annual catalog.

I wanted to make a couple clarifications in case you tried to order some of the following items:

1) Item 140406 – Watercolor Wishes Card Kit seen on p. 80 and p. 155 – This kit, including the exclusive stamp set that can only be purchased with the kit, is not available to purchase until July 2015.

2) 138435 – Neutrals Collection Designer Series Paper Stack and 138436 – Regals Collection Designer Series Paper Stack – Stampin’ Up! noticed that the size of these two paper stacks was off by 1/8″, so it is in the process of correcting the problem.  The paper stacks should be available to purchase shortly.

 Inspiration – Sprinkles of Life:

Annual15_Inside_Back_Cover

For my inspiration today, I have another card that I made from the Sprinkles of Life stamp set, which is available to purchase today.  I have to admit that I copied this card from one created by Sara Douglass for the recent South Pacific Convention.  I thought it was so cute that I just couldn’t resist!  This stamp set has so many different stamps and possibilities!!!  And, I love that for every purchase of this stamp set, Stampin’ Up! will donate $3 to the Ronald McDonald House, which is such a worthy cause.

The Sprinkles of Life stamp set has a coordinating Tree Builder Punch, that punches out the cloud and raindrops (among other things.)  That makes it so easy to create this card.

I embossed the clouds in silver to go with the sentiment.

On the original card created by Sara, she used the new #138402 Silver Metallic Thread.  Unfortunately, that wasn’t available for pre-order, so I had to improvise a little and use the silver thread from some Silver Baker’s Twine.

I punched the raindrops in the following bright colors to really pop on the black background:  Bermuda Bay, Cucumber Crush, Melon Mambo, Tangelo Twist and Hello Honey.

My Digital Studio Update:

Yesterday, Stampin’ Up! made the following announcement on its mydigitalstudio.net blog:

“Now is your last chance to get Stampin’ Up! downloads and print products at the discounted prices.  Everything in the My Digital Studio product line is available for 30 percent off until the end of day on June 2.  See the spreadsheets of retiring MDS products here:

US (PDF, XLS)

As a general reminder:

June 2 is the last day to buy downloads or place print orders with the 30 percent discount.  After June 2, Stampin’ Up! will no longer sell anything related to the My Digital Studio product line.

On June 2, all Online Store categories will be replaced with new categories in support of the 2015-2016 annual catalog.  The new categories will contain new and carryover items in the 2015-2016 annual catalog.  All other items, including the MDS software and digital downloads, will be searchable and orderable, but not categorized.

June 9 is the last day that Stampin’ Up! will support the My Digital Studio product line.  After June 9, all of the MDS websites will be taken down.  That list includes MyDigitalStudio.net, related content on the stampinup.com demonstrator website, the download manager, YouTube videos, Facebook, and Pinterest.

Make sure that you download and back up your digital downloads and software before June 9.  For help with backing up files, see MyDigitalStudio.net/backup.  (Also, I have written and video instructions to back up your MDS files on the MDS Monday blog under the Videos / How To tab.)

The MDS playlist of YouTube videos on the Stampin’ Up! channel will be available (for the foreseeable future) via  the following link: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLB85C76B5B74DB19A

MyMemories Suite Offer

Software

Stampin’ Up! has worked with excellent partners to make the My Digital Studio product line.  It’s pleased to announce that StoryRock, the partner who worked with it to develop the MDS software, has made an offer to Stampin’ Up!’s customers and demonstrators.  Some MDS users may know that the original MDS software was based on StoryRock’s award-winning MyMemories Suite software.  While the two softwares have diverged over the years, there are still many similarities–which Stampin’ Up! feels confident will enable MDS users to experience an easy transition to MyMemories Suite.

MyMemories version 6 software is normally available for $39.99 USD, but StoryRock has cut the price to $19.99 USD for anyone who purchases the software via this special offer.  See more details about the offer here.

Print

Starting on June 3, StoryRock will make a number of additional print products available through the latest version of the MyMemories software.  Stampin’ Up! has worked with StoryRock to introduce some of our most popular print products, like additional card, photobook, and calendar options and sizes.  It will post a detailed list of those products and StoryRock’s prices on MyDigitalStudio.net on June 3.

Artwork

While Stampin’ Up! will not sell any digital downloads after June 2, it has reached an agreement with StoryRock to offer a limited number of its existing digital downloads for sale via a Stampin’ Up! section of the MyMemories.com online store.  You can expect to see a limited selection of digital downloads appearing on the MyMemories.com online store over the next few months.  The price for downloads through the MyMemories.com online store may vary, but it will definitely be in your best interest to purchase the downloads available through Stampin’ Up! at a 30 percent discount until they are no longer available after June 2.

Do I need to switch to MyMemories Suite?

Stampin’ Up! will no longer support the MDS software after June 9, 2015.  MDS will continue to work on existing computers for the foreseeable future.  However, you will no longer be able to print directly from MDS after June 2, and it is very probable that the software will not work with the upcoming Windows PC and Mac operating systems.  It is also possible that other critical component updates like Java may cause the software to stop working as intended.

In short, if you would like to continue with digital design on a supported platform, Stampin’ Up! recommends that you switch to the latest version of MyMemories Suite (MMS).  MyMemories Suite consistently rates very high, Stampin’ Up! knows and recommends the developers, and as Stampin’ Up! has mentioned, MMS is very similar to MDS.  Stampin’ Up! will not provide support for switching your MDS projects and files over to MyMemories Suite, but StoryRock will be more than happy to help.”

I know that’s a lot of information and it may take some time to digest.  Personally, I decided to go ahead an buy the MyMemories Suite version 6 software.  I want to be able to continue to use my downloads, and I want to be able to continue to print.  Because the above update indicates that sometime in the future, MDS may stop working due to incompatibility with future Windows and Java updates, I decided to go ahead and take advantage of the $19.95 offer to buy MMS.  That way, I’m all set up if / when that ever happens and I can continue to order prints.  In fact, I already copied over all my downloads to MMS.  It was pretty easy.  (For instructions on migrating MDS downloads to MMS: Steps for Mac Steps for Windows.  For instructions on converting MDS projects to MMS by changing the file extensions from .mds to .mms: Steps for Mac / Steps for Windows.)

I think the important thing right now is to buy any additional downloads you may want from Stampin’ Up! at the discounted price before the end of the day – June 2, and then to back up everything before June 9, so you can eventually convert your downloads and projects to MyMemories Suite.

Have a great week!
