Before I get to the news and weekly deals for this week, I have another alternative Paper Pumpkin project to share. I was thumbing through the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack, when I realized that it included the paper shown below that coordinates beautifully with the June Paper Pumpkin stamps!!! The large flower from this month’s Paper Pumpkin stamps looks almost exactly like the one on the paper. After making this discovery, I just had to design a card:)
I stamped my flowers on watercolor paper with Black Stazon ink. This ink works great for watercoloring, because it won’t smear. I used an Aqua Painter to paint the large flower with Calypso Coral and Blush Blossom ink. When painting, I tried to mimic the flowers on the designer series paper. Then, I colored the smaller flowers with Pacific Point and Mint Macaroon inks. When I was finished, I cut out all the flowers by hand. (Yes, now and then, I still need to do that as there are no coordinating punches or framelits.)
I used my new Fluttering Textured Impression Embossing Folder on this card. It’s so pretty, and I’m not sure if you noticed this, but it’s extra wide so you can use it for both portrait and landscape cards!
To create the Old Olive leaves, I used a 1-1/4″ Circle punch. I first punched out a circle, then slipped the circle back into the punch to punch a leaf shape. The other Mint Macaroon leaves were cut from the Bouquet Bigz L die cut.
I stamped the greeting with another June Paper Pumpkin stamp and punched it out with a Washi Label punch. Finally, I added a Very Vintage Button tied with Linen Thread and some Venetian Crocheted Trim.
