In coordination with the kick off of the new Holiday Catalog, Stampin’ Up! released a bunch of new YouTube videos on the new products. Here’s a great one on the new Precision Base Plate for the Big Shot:
Stampin’ Up! announced the following new Weekly Deals. I love that Everyday Chic Washi Tape! And, who couldn’t use some nice Whisper White 5/8″ Seam Binding Ribbon? It’s a great embellishment that doesn’t add a lot of bulk to cards you want to mail.
In the spirit of the holidays, I made my first Christmas card of the season! I used the Wondrous Wreath stamp set from the Annual Catalog (because I haven’t ordered any new holiday sets yet!) But, it’s fun to use an oldie, but goody. This was one of my favorite stamps sets from last year, and I plan to continue using it for a long time.
I love gold and glimmer on holiday cards! So, when I selected my color scheme for this card, I went with gold and Cherry Cobbler, along with lots of neutrals.
The Wondrous Wreath stamp set involves three-step stamping. First, I stamped the background leaves with Crumb Cake. Then, I stamped the gold leaves with Metallic Gold Encore ink and embossed them in gold. To emboss after stamping (such as the Crumb Cake leaves), it’s really important to rub an embossing buddy over the paper prior to stamping. Otherwise, the embossing powder will stick to all the Crumb Cake leaves too! That would be very bad… Lastly, I stamped the berries with Versamark ink and embossed them in Cherry Cobbler.
The Wonderful Wreath Framelit Dies work with this stamp set to cut out the wreath. Start with the framelit for the inside of the wreath, then cut out the outside.
My background paper is Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper. I adore this paper! The neutral colors are perfect for any card. Also, I added some tiny strips of Gold Glimmer Paper for just a touch of holiday sparkle.
Lastly, I added this darling greeting, which also comes with the Wondrous Wreath stamp set. I embossed it in gold on Vellum Paper, then used the Triple Banner Punch to cut out the “V”s on my banner.
