Today, Stampin’ Up! announced some great new Weekly Deals, including the gorgeous Gold 5/8″ Satin Ribbon. This is one of my favorite ribbons, because it’s so soft and luxurious. Another great deal is the Bow Builder Punch. With this punch, you can make darling little bows to enhance cards and small gifts. Finally, the Envelope Punch Board is also on sale. With this punch board, you can make custom envelopes in a multitude of sizes out of any paper you choose.
I just got my August Paper Pumpkin Kit in the mail, and OH MY GOSH, this has got to be my favorite kit to date!!! I totally love it, and I’m so excited to start working with it.
Here’s a picture of the contents of the box for this month. The kit is called Chalk It Up to Love. There are enough supplies to make six cards and three gift boxes, and all the tags are chalkboard!!! I LOVE chalkboard! Whoo, hoo, I’m so happy!!!
This is the photopolymer stamp set that comes with the kit, along with a Whisper White Craft Stampin’ Spot to make the chalkboard tags. I’m so grateful that it includes a sympathy stamp! I don’t have many of those, and it’s one of those stamps that are really good to have in inventory when the need arises. Plus, I love all the pretty decorative stamps in this set. It’s really my style.
Paper Pumpkin is so fun! It’s a surprise every month, and you get all the contents of the box, including the photopolymer stamps and at least one Stampin’ Spot ink pad in a color that does not repeat for at least a year for only $19.95 (plus tax.) The price includes shipping! That’s a lot of supplies for only $19.95. Plus, there’s a promotion going on right now for first time subscribers. From now until September 10th, you can get 50% off your first two months! Use the promo code HALFOFF when you sign up. Be sure to sign up before September 10 to get the September kit. While I don’t know what will be included in that kit, my guess is that it will be something Halloween themed 🙂
I’ll post some of my alternative projects on Saturday, so be sure to check back!
For my inspiration today, I have a gift tag made with the Watercolor Words stamp set. I just love this stamp set, because it’s so versatile. There are lots of great saying included in the set, along with plenty of decorative stamps to complete your project. In fact, I used this stamp set for all my classes in August, and I still have more ideas.
This tag is for my son’s birthday coming up in September, so I chose guy colors of Tempting Turquoise and Old Olive. I really love combining bright colors with black and white. It’s dramatic and makes for great projects. For the background tags, I used two different sheets of Everyday Chic Designer Series Paper. All this paper is colored black and white, but I used a Blender Pen to add Old Olive to the left tag and a sponge to add variegated Tempting Turquoise to the right tag.
I used the Banner Triple Punch to make all my tags 2″ wide. The “Just for You” stamp doesn’t quite fit on this width, so I tilted the stamp a little. Then, to add a little bit of dimension, I stamped the “Just for You” stamp again in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Old Olive card stock, and cut out the “FOR” so I could raise it with a small dimensional.
For the smaller stars, I used a stamp from Be The Star stamp set. The larger stars are from Watercolor Words. For some of those stars, I used a Blender Pen to color in the stars.
If you look real close, you’ll also notice that I added some Itty Bitty Epoxy Accent stars on top of my stamped stars. Finally, I stapled some White Jute Trim to the top of the tags and tied a knot.
