I have such a fun project to share today! It’s a match box that you can make yourself using your choice of cardstock and designer series paper.
I decided to make a Valentine Match Box to fill with candies. I got the instructions from The Creative Team, via my up-line Kimberly Van Diepen. I updated them and made a few of my own improvements and have a link to the PDF at the bottom of this post.
To make the box, any 8-1/2 x 11 cardstock will work. I chose Basic Black to go with my designer series paper.
For the cover, the long side is 9″ so unfortunately the pretty 6″ x 6″ paper stacks, like Love Blossoms won’t work. In lieu of that, I choose to use the Timeless Elegance Designer Series Paper. This is one of my favorites from the Annual catalog. I love it because the whole paper pack is Basic Black and Very Vanilla. It’s elegant and coordinates with any project.
The instructions below are self explanatory, so I won’t go into the details here. So let’s get right to the fun part of decorating!
For my box, I used a lot of elements from the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit. This kit is packed with pretty, feminine goodies, like this gorgeous Blushing Bride Satin Ribbon, the string of pearls, sequins, epoxy accents, and lots more!!!
Most of my decorating is pretty easy to figure out. However, when I added the string of pearls underneath the heart punch, I realized that my dimensionals weren’t quite tall enough. So, I stacked two dimensionals on top of each other on both sides. That way, my heart punch laid flat and the pearls fit right in-between the two stacks. I also used dimensionals to add the “Love You” label.
I did sneak in one little element that’s not available to order. You see that pretty Blushing Bride and Gold Baker’s Twine? I got that in a Paper Pumpkin Kit about a year ago. I’ve horded it for a special occasion. I just LOVE that baker’s twine! I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, one of my FAVORITE things about Paper Pumpkin are the exclusive embellishments that come with the kits!!! This baker’s twine is a great example. This month’s Watermelon Wonder Sequin Trim is another. Both are simply gorgeous, and you can’t get them anywhere else. Just another great reason to sign up for Paper Pumpkin.
