#TGIFC196 Product Spotlight — Designer Series Paper

By | January 25, 2019

This week, the TGIF Challenge Blog has a really fun challenge to use designer series paper (DSP) on your project. To me, this is WIDE open. You could interpret this challenge a bunch of different ways. For example, you could use DSP as a background, layer, focal point, or even to enhance a stamped image.

Since I was in the process of making Valentine’s cards, my mind immediately went to the super gorgeous All My Love DSP. The more I look at that paper, the more I love it. I discovered that I could use the Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies (included in the bundle noted below with the Meant To Be stamp set) to cut out many of the heart shaped prints on the DSP! In fact, my card below only includes ONE stamp … the sentiment. All the other images are cut from the DSP!!!

After cutting out the heart with the coordinating die, I used scissors to cut out the various flowers and leaves from the DSP. It was a little labor intensive, but not too bad. However, in the end, it was totally worth it because I LOVE the results!

The best thing about all this was when I was finished cutting, everything was done! No coloring needed!!!

I also added some Be Mine Stitched dies cut from Vellum Paper and Shimmery White Cardstock, as well as some leaves cut with the Wonderful Floral Framelits dies from Soft Sea Foam Cardstock.

Tip: When using the Wonderful Floral Framelits Dies, be sure to run the dies through the Big Shot again using Embossing Mats to get the full effect of the built-in embossing lines! Check out the leaves in the photos. I am in LOVE with that particular die cut.

To create the background of my card, I layered some All My Love DSP under a panel of Shimmery White Cardstock, which I had watercolored a quick wash with Flirty Flamingo ink. I also layered a smaller panel towards the top that I had embossed with the Lace Dynamic Textured Impression Embossing Folder.

You really need to try making a card like this. It’s a great way to get full use out of your DSP.

Supplies used on my card:

I can’t wait to see what all the TGIF designers come up with this week, so be sure to head over to the TGIF Challenges Blog to check it out. At that site, you’ll find a link at the bottom of the post so you can enter your own project into our challenge. Each week, we vote on a winner and it could be you! I’d love to see what you can come up with.

Happy creating!

I love this card so much. Unfortunately in order for me to make it I would really love specific instructions or possibly a video. Would this be a possibility. Thank you

Thank you so much Rose. I am working on getting up to speed to make videos, but not quite there yet. As for specific instructions, I did try above. It’s mostly just fussy cutting up paper. Is there an area where you have a specific question?
