#TGIFC160 Inspiration Challenge

By | May 18, 2018

Welcome back to a new TFIF Challenge!  This week, we have an inspiration challenge, and it’s all about wood!

There are so many ways you can go with this challenge … wood related stamps, wood textures, wood paper, wooden embellishments, even real twigs as accents!!!  Wood is great for masculine or rustic projects, but it can also act as a great accent for feminine projects as well!  My immediate thought was, oh boy, I’ll use the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP) Stack.  It just may be my all-time favorite designer paper, and I’m SO HAPPY that it’s continuing into the new 2018 Annual Catalog.

Before I get into the details of my project, be sure to go to the TGIF Challenges website and see all the designers’ projects for this week.

For my project, I decided to use my favorite Wood Textures DSP, with a little twist which I’ll explain below, and some new products from the Garden Impressions Suite in the new 2018 Annual Catalog.  So this is a little preview of some fun and exciting new products!

Let’s start with the wood since that’s what this whole challenge is about.  I took various scraps of Wood Textures DSP (which I have a lot!) and used a sponge to color them with Soft Sea Foam, Mint Mararon, Pool Party, and Coastal Cabana ink.  I was going for an ombre look, so I colored the gradually darker pieces of wood paper with gradually darker ink.  I love how the ink totally changes the look of the Wood Textures paper!

Next, I chose a really dark piece of Wood Textures DSP to cut out the large Springtime Impressions Thinlits Die.  (Tip:  Adhere a Multipurpose Adhesive  Sheet to the back before cutting to make it super easy to attach to your project.)  I think this background piece looks like inlaid wood.

Next, I used the same thinlit die, as well as a small flower from the same set, to cut pieces from Shimmery White Cardstock.  I carefully cut out several flowers and leaves to watercolor with Poppy Parade, Mango Melody, Petal Pink, So Saffron, Mint Macaron, and Soft Sea Foam ink.

To color the small background strip, I used a smooching technique to watercolor Shimmery White Cardstock with Coastal Cabana ink.  Have I mentioned how happy I am that this color is back?  It’s bright and beautiful, and I totally LOVE it!

The sentiment on this card is from the coordinating Abstract Impressions stamp set.  There is SO MUCH more I’ll be doing with this stamp set and  related products.  It’s a large stamp set with tons of possibilities, so stay tuned!

Supplies used on my card:

Have a wonderful and creative day!

Ackkk! You are such an enabler! I had decided I didn’t need this bundle but after seeing your beautiful card, I think it will be on my June 1st order.
