Technique Thursday – Double Embossing

By | April 23, 2015

Welcome to a new Technique Thursday!  I was playing around with decorative masks and embossing powder, and I discovered a fun technique for creating backgrounds.  This was fairly easy, so I thought I’d share:)

I started out with a standard card cut from Soft Sky card stock.  I used the dots decorative mask to apply Versamark ink with a sponge dauber.  Then, I embossed the dots with Clear Stampin’ Emboss powder.

Next, I carefully re-aligned the dots decorative mask over my original clear embossing, and used a sponge dauber to add a little more Versamark ink on the top left side of each dot.  Then, I sprinkled Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder over the dots.  I used my finger to brush away some of the powder from the lower right side of each dot.  I also used a dry paint brush to remove any excess embossing powder from the card stock.

Then, I applied the heat tool, and this is how it came out!  I think this is really pretty!!!

To finish my card, I added a banner stamped with the Occasions 4 You stamp set in Lost Lagoon ink.  I used a Soft Sky Stampin’ Write Marker to color in the “thanks.”

Next, I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut circles from Sweet Dreams Designer Series Paper.  I also added some Sweet Dreams Designer Washi Tape.

The twine is a combination of Soft Sky from the Painted Blooms Cotton Twine, and Lost Lagoon from the Sale-A-Bration Accessory Pack.  (The buttons are also from that same Sale-A-Bration pack.)
