Mixed Drinks & Watercolor Pencils

I have a fun card to share today that uses several techniques AND another watercoloring tutorial.  I got to play with my new Embossing Paste this weekend, and as expected, I absolutely love it.  It’s so much fun to have another cool technique to use in my toolbox of tricks!!! The Embossing Paste comes in white, but you can color it very easily by adding a drop of re-inker.  To… Read More »

Oh So Eclectic!

My mom visited last weekend, and when we get together, we love to craft!  So not only was she able to attend one of my stamp workshops, but the next day, we had fun stamping and experimenting with new techniques! The card I’m sharing today includes two stamping techniques: 1) the background involves something new that I’ve never tried before, and 2) then I watercolored the flower and stitched circle, so… Read More »

Painters Tape Masking

Today, I have a fun technique to share with you.  It involves creating a mask with painters tape! I heard about this idea from a fellow demonstrator and thought it was so clever!  I had my daughter buy me the widest painters tape available at Home Depot.  (She hangs out there a lot, because that’s where her boyfriend works!  Ha!!!)  Initially, I thought I would need to select a die cut that… Read More »

Plastic Bag Watercolor Technique

I have a really fun technique to share with you today using watercolor paper and a plastic sandwich bag.  Sounds crazy, but it’s super easy and fun; and what’s great is that it turns out different every time you do it.  At the bottom of this post, you’ll find a link to download a complete… Read More »

Watercolor Pencil Technique

I have a fun new technique to share today.  It’s another way to use the new Watercolor Pencils.  This technique allows you to add color and definition to stamped images, but it’s time consuming so it’s not a technique I could easily teach in a class.  Therefore, it’s perfect for my blog. I used the Watercolor Pencils to add colors to the stamped images from the Special Reason stamp set.  Let me… Read More »

Woodland Sunrise

My youngest sister is having a birthday next week, and I just learned a new technique, so it was a perfect opportunity for me to try it out this morning!!! I needed a textured impression embossing folder (TIEF) for this technique, and my sister lives in Mammoth Lakes in the beautiful mountains.  Therefore, I picked the Woodland TIEF with its beautiful aspen trees. I’m not going to go into too… Read More »

Tarnished Foil Technique

I was looking through Pinterest the other day and saw a really cool stamping technique!  It’s called the Tarnished Foil technique. I thought I’d try it out this weekend, and if I could figure out how to do it, I’d design a card for my Stamp Club coming up on January 19th.  The card below it my test case (after one failure!)  It looks pretty similar to the examples I saw,… Read More »

Shadow Stamping Technique

I have a fun technique to share with you today!  It’s called shadow stamping. This is the first time I’ve tried this technique, and I have to admit that it was much easier than I anticipated.  In order to do it, you need to choose a solid stamp such as the leaves on my background from the Botanical Blooms stamp set. I created this card for #3 of Kimberly Van… Read More »

Highlighting in White

For Technique Thursday this week, I have a simple idea that can really add a unique, finished look to your cards.  It’s highlighting your stamped image with a White Signo Uni-Ball Gel Pen.  This works especially well on flat layers with colored backgrounds. On the card below, I highlighted the dragonflies’ wings with a White Signo Uni-Ball Gel Pen.  I embossed the dragonflies in black, did all the stamping and… Read More »
