Bigfoot???

Last weekend, my daughter’s boyfriend had knee surgery for the second time in less than a year!  Poor kid.  He had only been at Redlands University for football training for a little over a week, when he tore his meniscus again!  I felt so BAD for him, because he was SO EXCITED to play football. The good news is that all went well, and according to him, he should be… Read More »

Rustic Birthday

This week was my son’s 23rd birthday!!!  Yikes!  It’s crazy to think about it.  The years go by way too fast.  He was just a little kid, and then in a blink of an eye, he’s already graduated from college and is starting a life on his own. So today, I wanted to share his birthday card with you.  I had a lot of fun making this card.  It uses… Read More »

Patriotic Shaving Cream Cards

Last weekend, my husband asked me to make some “patriotic” cards.  He needed a sympathy card for a veteran friend who had recently passed away and a thank you card for another veteran.  (I decided to make an extra too, just to have it on hand.) I can’t take ANY credit for this, because I totally CASEd it from Kim Jolley’s website.  She’s the one who came up with the… Read More »

Gone Fishing – #GDP103

This week, the Global Design Project is having a theme challenge to design projects “For Him.”  Typically, I’m not very good at masculine cards.  But, this challenge came at the perfect time, because this month is filled with guy birthdays including my husband, son, and nephew.  Click on the photo below to go to the website and see all the great inspiration from the designers. I decided to use the challenge… Read More »

Beachy Birthday

My Brother-In-Law is celebrating his birthday this week, and he’s a really great guy, so I wanted to make an extra special card for him.  He lives in Southern California and enjoys relaxing (like all of us!)  So, I thought why not create a beach themed card for him? I love the lounge chairs from the Colorful Seasons stamp set and thought they would make a great centerpiece for this… Read More »

Happy Celebrations

We had lots to celebrate last week!  Two birthdays and Easter!!!  Not only did my daughter have her birthday, but so did her boyfriend that she’s been dating for almost a year.  He’s a great kid that we’ve really enjoyed getting to know. For his birthday card, I used the new Happy Celebrations stamp set and coordinating Celebrations Duo embossing folder.  I again got my inspiration from a card on… Read More »

Happy Celebrations

I have a great stamp set to share with you today.  It’s perfect for masculine cards, something I struggle with.  But not any longer, because now I’m flooded with great ideas!!! This stamp set coordinates with the Celebrations Duo Textured Impression Embossing Folders: one that says “HAPPY” and another that says “Celebrate.”  You can see a subtle impression of the HAPPY in the background of my card below. I stamped the… Read More »

Keep It Simple

Last week, I participated in a card challenge to design a simple birthday card, and then duplicate it twice.  No problem, right? Well, maybe a problem for me.  I rarely make simple cards.  I always feel like I need to add detailed watercoloring, or something to make the card look like I spent time and effort.  But, I also realize that’s not always practical.  In fact, I have a bunch of guy… Read More »

Challenging Myself

First off, I want to give a big shout out to my mom who’s celebrating her birthday today!  Happy Birthday Mom and I love you!!!! Mountain Adventure

For Christmas, I always give my nephews money.  (It’s what they want!) Since I don’t put much effort into their gifts, I like to put a little extra effort into their cards.  This year, I decided to use the Mountain Adventure stamp set.  It’s perfect!  As a family, we frequently gather in Mammoth Lakes for the holidays, so I think this stamp set will make my nephews think of the… Read More »

Bear Happy Birthday

One of my husband’s best friends is about to turn 60!  (Yikes, I can’t believe we’re all approaching another big milestone!)  They’ve been friends since grammar school and have enjoyed lots of skiing and hiking trips in the back country of the Sierra. Meanwhile last weekend, we happened to be wine tasting in Lodi with my mom (which was so fun), and my husband discovered this great bottle of red… Read More »

Get Better Soon!

Last week, my daughter’s boyfriend had knee surgery:(  Poor guy!  He hurt it playing football for Delta College. Shannon is currently in Southern California attending Loyola Marymont University, so she couldn’t be with him and was feeling really bad.  She wanted to do something special to make him feel better.  So, we talked … she knew she couldn’t take off school to travel home, so she decided to buy his Christmas… Read More »

Fall Anniversary

Last week was our 26th wedding anniversary!  When I think back on the day we were married, it was a crisp Fall day in Yosemite National Park.  The scenery was gorgeous, and it was especially beautiful because of the Fall colors. For my husband’s card this year, I decided to re-create that memory using the Sheltering Tree stamp set.  This is one of my all-time favorite stamp sets.  I used it… Read More »

How To Sponge a Scene

A dear friend of ours recently lost his life partner.  He worked with me for many years in the Internal Audit Department of Washington Mutual Bank and then later became a client of my husbands.  Since then, he moved to Texas, but we’ve kept in touch over the years, and my husband still does his taxes every year.  We were so sad to learn that his partner had passed away.… Read More »
