Happy Celebrations

I have a great stamp set to share with you today.  It’s perfect for masculine cards, something I struggle with.  But not any longer, because now I’m flooded with great ideas!!! This stamp set coordinates with the Celebrations Duo Textured Impression Embossing Folders: one that says “HAPPY” and another that says “Celebrate.”  You can see a subtle impression of the HAPPY in the background of my card below. I stamped the… Read More »

Keep It Simple

Last week, I participated in a card challenge to design a simple birthday card, and then duplicate it twice.  No problem, right? Well, maybe a problem for me.  I rarely make simple cards.  I always feel like I need to add detailed watercoloring, or something to make the card look like I spent time and effort.  But, I also realize that’s not always practical.  In fact, I have a bunch of guy… Read More »

Birthday Share

I was so lucky this year to receive SO MANY beautiful handmade cards that I wanted to share them with you.  I didn’t ask for permission, so hopefully my friends and family will be pleasantly surprised.  Personally, I think a handmade card is one of the best gifts a person can receive.  It’s the ultimate act of kindness … as it takes time, thought, and love to create. This first card… Read More »

18th Birthday

My baby is turning 18 tomorrow!!!  This is just crazy!  I can’t believe how fast the years have gone by.  I’m having a much harder time with this one, probably because she’s my youngest. Because this is such a BIG birthday milestone, I wanted to make a super special card for her.  I bought the Number of Years photopolymer stamp set and Large Numbers Framelits for this exact occasion.  (You… Read More »

Birthday Botanicals

Last Wednesday was my mom’s birthday.  I know she’d rather skip it and pretend it didn’t happen, but for me it’s a special day to once again tell her how much I love and admire her. I love to surprise my mom with something different.  That’s why I waited until today to post my card for her, because I wanted to make sure she got the original in the mail… Read More »

Stacked Birthday Card

My nephew’s birthday is coming up next week, and I wanted to make a special card for him.  He’s turning 22 and finishing up his last year at San Diego State University.  In fact, my daughter and I just saw him last week when we were in San Diego touring colleges.  He made a special effort to free up an afternoon so he could meet us for lunch and hang… Read More »

Partial Cut Framelits

For Technique Thursday this week, I have a couple fun ideas to show you.  One involves making a partial cut with framelit dies and the other is simply using a product you may have used in a while. However, before I get started, let me give you a little background on the card I’m making.  One of my son’s best friends, Nels, is turning 21 soon.  I met his mother,… Read More »
