WWYS 189 – Still Night

By | October 8, 2018

The What Will You Stamp? Challenge Blog is featuring the Still Night stamp set this week!  You can find it on page 41 of the Holiday Catalog, including the coordinating Night Owl Thinlits Dies.  This is a beautiful stamp set that’s perfect for Fall and the holidays.

Be sure to click over to the What Will You Stamp? Challenge Blog to see all the designers’ projects using this stamp set!

I decided I would color my owl with Stampin’ Blends and place him in front of a pretty watercolored moon.  To create the background, I wet the watercolor paper with clear water first and then used my Aqua Painter to swirl Night of Navy, Blueberry Bushel, and Balmy Blue ink.  I love these colors together!

To color the owl, I looked up a photo of an owl on the internet to get an idea of the coloring and shadows.  Then, I used the Stampin’ Blends Marker Colors listed below in my supply list.  I used the Color Lifter Marker at the very end to add highlights to the face and feathers.

I decided to keep this card clean and simple, so I embossed the Whisper White Cardstock in the background with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Textured Impression Embossing Folder.  Then, I added a single strip of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper.

The Night Owl Thinlits Dies include these pretty little pine branch dies that I used near my tag, as well as the delicate snowflakes on the upper corner.  I think they add an elegant touch.  To break up the tag from the background, I cut a circle die with the Layering Circles Framelits Dies and then embossed it with the Corrugated Dynamic Textured Impression Embossing Folder.

As a final touch, I wrapped the card with some Nature’s Twine that I had unraveled.

Supplies used on my card:

Have a wonderful and creative day!

I LOVE this card! It is so very cool…especially the watercolored background with the white branches over the top! Excellent work!
