Stamping Sunday Blog Hop – New In Colors

By | June 9, 2019

Welcome to the June Stamping Sunday Blog Hop! This month, we are focusing on the new 2019-2021 In Colors!!! I was so excited to see this theme, because I absolutely LOVE the new colors. The more I use them, the more I realize how beautifully they work together. I can’t wait to see all the designers’ gorgeous projects. See the list of links below to continue through the blog hop.

Each month, the Stamping Sunday designers have a two options. We can create three versions of a card — one for beginners, one for casual crafters, and one for avid crafters. Or, we can create a card and a 3-D project or scrapbook page. This month, I decided to create a card and scrapbook page, and then I went a little further and designed a couple simple tags.

Vibrant Vases Card:

All my projects feature the beautiful new Woven Threads Designer Series Paper! I love this set of papers, because it includes all the new In Colors! To create the vases, I simply used the Vase Builder Punch to punch the vases out of different sheets. Super simple, but oh so pretty!!!

Next, I cut the flowers from Shimmery White Cardstock using the Bouquet Bunch Dies. Then, I used an Aqua Painter to watercolor them with Pretty Peacock, Rococo Rose, Terracotta Tile, and Seaside Spray ink. I squeezed my ink pads to pool ink in the lids and then used an Aqua Painter to add color to the center of the flowers. I love this soft look!

Tip: Since the flowers are so small, I rolled Mini Glue Dots into balls to “pop” them up and be even with the vases.

Lastly, I used some of the new Stitched Nested Dies to cut the sentiment, Shimmery White layer, and Vellum layer below. For the Vellum layer, I used a partial die cutting technique to lengthen the die. (I cut 2/3 of the die by moving the top glass of my die cutting sandwich to only cover the section I wanted cut, then I re-positioned the die to cut out the remainder.)

(The Pretty Peacock Velvet Ribbon was leftover from the May Paper Pumpkin kit.)

Monument Valley Scrapbook Page:

In 2017, my husband and I took an epic driving/hiking vacation though the national parks of Utah and Southwestern U.S.A. On our way back to California, we visited Monument Valley. Monument Valley is the iconic location of many famous Western movies. In fact, we even stayed at Goulding’s Lodge, where many of the movie stars lived while filming on location. I had a great photo of the two of us, and I had been waiting for the right inspiration to to create a scrapbook page.

The 2019-2021 In Colors worked PERFECTLY with this photo!!! And, what’s even better is that the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper has designs that appear Southwestern! We were literally standing in the Navajo Nation when we took this selfie.

Sometimes, the timing of everything just aligns. The May Paper Pumpkin kit included these darling feather stamps that totally went with my theme as well! I stamped them on Vellum Paper with Tuxedo Black Memento ink, and then flipped them over and used Blender Pens and my In Color ink pads to color the backs. Now, normally I would use Stampin’ Write Markers to color the Vellum, but I completed this page before I could order them. So, this is how I made due. I squeezed the ink pads to pool ink in the lids and then dipped the tip of the Blender Pen into the ink to pick up color. Voila! Since the Vellum is see-through, I could flip the feathers to lay in two different directions.

I also used the May Paper Pumpkin stamps to create the splatters.

To add some texture to my page, I used the Subtle and Corrugated 3-D Embossing Folders on some of my layers.

I also used the partial die cutting technique to extend the length of my Stitched Nested Dies as described above.

(If you notice that the background sheet is textured, it’s because I didn’t have ANY 12″ x 12″ Whisper White Cardstock in my stash (gasp!) and had to revert to using a sheet of retired textured paper.)

To write the word “monumental,” I used a trick I learned from my talented TGIF Challenges friend, Elizabeth Price. I used the Well Written Dies to cut multiple words and then carefully cut out the letters I needed and splice them together. Afterwards, I covered them with a Fine-Tip Glue Pen to add dimension and shine. (This step also helped keep the letters glued together.)

To write the word “view,” I stamped the Lined Alphabet letters with Stazon ink on Watercolor Paper and then watercolored them with Seaside Spray ink.

Finally, I stamped “2017” with the Make A Difference stamps.

Final details included added some stitching with my sewing machine around the edges and some In Color Faceted Dots.
