Project Life – Then & Now

By | September 14, 2015

Yesterday was my son Samuel’s 21st birthday!  That’s a biggie!  It’s hard to believe how quickly the years go by.  Maybe I’m being a little nostalgic, but I thought it would be fun to complete a then and now page about him.  When we were at the Haleakala Visitor Center in Maui this summer, it struck me that the last time Samuel was there, he was only two years old.  I remembered these old photos I had of him running around.  So, I purposely took a bunch of new pictures thinking is would be fun to do a comparison.  Of course, my husband heard me talking about it and decided to go outside and photo bomb some of the pictures.  But, to me that just added to the fun of it all.

I created my memory page using My Digital Studio software, but you could complete a similar page with the real life Moments Like These Project Life Card Collection or by using MyMemories Suite software.  The real life pocket cards are available at my online store and the digital version is available at Becky Higgins Digital Project Life Store.  Because I used digital software to create my page, I took a few creative liberties with the top card.  It originally said Current Faves, so I used a square punch filled with Whisper White to cover up the word “Current” and then added my own text saying “Then & Now.”  I also downloaded a Becky Script font from Becky Higgins Digital Project Life Store.  I love using this font with the Moments Like These Project Life Card Collection, because the font matches the pocket cards!

Finally, I added some Becky Higgins Playful Overlays on top of several of my photos to add just a little more interest to my page.

Project Life is a great way to document vacations and everyday life.  It’s an easy, fast method to organize your photos.  You can just add pocket cards to your photos, or put in a little more effort for special pages by using embellishments and photo overlays.  It’s just a matter of getting started and doing it.  The important thing is not to feel overwhelmed.  My philosophy is to pick photos that strike my mood at the time.  I don’t document in any type of order.  I just do one page at a time when I have a moment, and surprisingly I’ll look back and realize I actually accomplished a lot! That way, it’s relaxed and fun.
Stampin’ Up! offers a full line of Project Life card collections and accessory packs to make memory keeping a snap.  Check it out at my online store and start capturing your precious memories today.
